About this item

  • CLEAN AND CLEAR SIGHTLINES—The dual chip exhaust keeps workspace clear of sawdust to make the most precise cuts.
  • PRECISION PLANING—The smooth kickstand prevents the blade from scratching finished surfaces, and the wrench storage keeps wrench in place during projects.
  • SAFETY FIRST—Lock-off switch prevents unintended startups.

From flattening to smoothing, a planer could quickly become one of your most useful wood tools. The 3-1/4 Inch Electric Planer is ideal to flatten and create a smooth surface on an otherwise rough piece of lumber, bevel edges and even reclaim old wood.

Excellent planer in every aspect but be sure to check the alignment of the blades prior to first use. It’s always good practice to double check any new power tool for safety reasons to ensure that everything is properly tightened before using. Out of the box both blades of this planer were safely tightened but one was in perfect alignment and the other blade was inserted on an extreme angle. Easy enough to adjust blades but if left unchecked the skewed blade would have damaged the wood surface.

The Skil planer is a good-quality tool and great value for the price. It performs well for woodworking projects and It’s easy to use, set up, and adjust, which makes it beginner-friendly.However, the dust bag doesn’t work properly, and I wish it included a spare blade. Despite these minor issues, it’s a solid product overall.

I bought this for a few small DYI projects around my house.Overall, it works great, I just have one complaint. I'm used to traditional hand planes, so I use the knob as a handle when running my work. This is actually the depth adjustment for the unit and I constantly find myself accidentally turning it when using it, thus making it difficult to stay consistent with the depth plane. I wish it had a lock on it to prevent this from happening. Even if it had more tension on the adjustment knob, this would be a benefit as it would likely not move as easily during use.

For the price point...Great buy! It's easier to use than the unit I had before that cost 3x more. Ready to go out of the box. Have used on doors, studs and treated deck joists. Good power and easy to adjust.Highly recommend!

Nice tool I've come to expect from skil/chervon. Unreal price for all that you get. I have recommended chervon products (skil, flex & ego) to anyone I come across.

Probably one of the most worthy things I've bought to put a nice smooth straight edge on boards.

Esta súper la herramienta pero me gustaría que viniera en una caja de plástico duro y no en cartón

The device is a bit heavy - it works very well but can take some getting used to, especially as the power cord has a tendency to get in the way - if you use an extension cord and put it over your shoulder with enough slack to keep you safe it’s more manageable - you don’t want to use this one handed, even if you could - so this was the safest way I found. In terms of quality it’s really well made, though it does leave a bit of a rough edge behind but it’s easy enough to sand that out. Also make sure you don’t apply pressure to the front as it goes off the edge of the work piece or you’ll have pretty bad tear out which you wouldn’t get from a hand plane.

I used this planer to reshape a dozen doors for an all-weather porch product, and it was remarkably easy. Would have taken ar least 10 times as long using a manual planer, if I’d survived such an effort at all. I also built some cabinet doors using it, not only shaping the wood but also beveling the edges as one might ordinarily do with a router. The little bag for catching wood chips does fill up quickly, but it easy to remove and dump. And the ability to have it on either side of the planer, or to blast out chips either direction, is very useful. I did sometimes have to use a wood rod to knock chips out of the tool itself, though usually I could shake these out. This is a relatively inexpensive and lightweight tool, and having only had it for a couple of weeks, I can’t speak to its longevity. Nor have I tried to replace the blade as of yet. But I’d say the thing has already paid for itself.
