I grew up with trash ones , so this one is definitely nice. It’s thick to so it helps keep ya warm, wouldn’t recommend in warm weather.

Good quality, but only 4 total pockets. 2 nice zipper pockets, and 2 hand warmer pockets.

Worth the $80-100 compared to the cheap stuff. Why? Let me tell you...1. The construction of this vest is contoured to fit an average or athletic body type. It wears trim and neat. It isn't flopping around and wearing like a bedsheet like the typical $10-30 vests. This means less rubbing, less friction, less snagging on vegetation, and overall less noise, especially when considering the research & development Sitka puts into dampening their materials.2. The pockets are real pockets, not just a hole where a piece of fabric was sewn on. As this is my outermost layer, I typically keep items I expect to need in them. That depends on where I'm hunting, but usually that may include a map, compass, ammo carrier, handkerchief, cell, power brick, sunglasses, ear pro, and snacks. It all stays put and doesn't jostle while moving. Also, real deal YKK zippers.3. Paired with the Sitka ball cap or beanie, you can really be seen. The blaze orange dye they use is electric, it pops from a thousand yards. Considering "Not Being Dead" is my #1 goal in hunting season, this is a nice feature.4. The arm holes are tailored for movement. Not just a round hole for your arm to go.5. The buckle is magnetic.. no noisy zipper or clicky plastic. Attention to detail that matters in the woods.6. Built-in shoulder pad.7. Water resistance is quite good, although rarely need that I'm not hunting in the rain. It repels the occasional light shower that passes through.Regarding fit. I'm 6' 190 and generally athletic. I ordered an XL, to fit over winter gear. For that, it fits perfect. Obviously, if I'm out earlier in the season for bow or muzzleloader, the XL will be a little loose. For now I accept it. Eventually I'll probably pick up a Large for when I'm only wearing a shirt or light jacket.

This is a great field vest, and I'm glad I purchased. It's expensive, but Sitka does build quality products. It is well made, beefy, adjustable and perfect for the sq. inch orange field requirement that exists in many states. For early season hunting (particularly in Texas) the face fabric is a little bit hot. If they had to err on the side of temperature or durability, they chose durability. Later in the season, it won't matter, but you will get a little hot early season. As for the fit, I found it to be a little blousy. Over a t shirt, it's going to be roomy; but with a jacket, it's going to be perfect. All of my Sitka gear is XL, and I ordered the same for this vest. I'd recommend ordering whatever size the rest of your kit is - I'm 6' 225lbs, and XL works for me. Overall a great vest that will last for many seasons.
