simplehuman's dual compartment stainless steel rectangular step can makes it easy to neatly sort your trash and recyclables in one convenient, space-efficient space. On one side, it features an innovative 'liner pocket' that stores and dispenses liners from inside the can for a faster liner change. The other side has a convenient handled bucket for easy lifting and disposal of all your recyclables. The stainless steel liner rim grips the liner and keeps it hidden. A strong wide steel pedal is designed to last, and the patented lid shox technology ensures a smooth, silent close every time. Code H liner refill packs store perfectly in this can's liner pocket.

I replaced my cheaper dual compartment trash/recycling can with this and I am very happy with it. The foot pedal is very sturdy, the compartments are of good size, and I appreciate the deodorizer. The trashbag dispenser is also convenient. It is expensive, but used so often. I recommend this trash can to anyone hesitant. Yes, cheaper ones can do the job, but I believe this trash can is worth the price because it seems durable and even somewhat luxurious.

Love having the recycling on one side and garbage on the other. Saves me time going outside to the recycling bin every day - just when I need to empty it. While the garbage side is small, it suits our needs. I would recommend this, even though it is pricey. I would also get the garbage bags that fit - very strong, they do hold a lot. I like the smaller size.

Yeah it may be a little pricy but totally worth it. It’s already a mundane and frustrating chore, it’s worth splurging a bit to make it easier. Trash bags fit perfect, has a slot built it to store extra bags for easy refills, built in recycle with handle, AND pods to eliminate smells. If your job is taking out the trash, trust me and buy it.

Loved this. Great quality. The trash bags I had, 13 gallon, fit but it's a tight squeeze. They make their own trash bags, and expect you to pay high dollar for them instead of just making the trashcan a universal size. Works and it looks great, but expensive.

I purchased the dual trash/recycle can, 16 gallons. It arrived in perfect condition and was wrapped excellently. I’ve only had it for a week, and I would prefer to give a review in six months after I actually have time to use it, but as a one week review I can tell you this – I suggest purchasing the bags that were made to fit the bins, as they are Square shaped instead of rectangular. If you use store-bought bags, you’ll have to work to fit the top edge of the bag down around the rim of the liner bin. Secondly, because the circumference of the inside bin is square you must make sure your items get in the bag – don’t toss them in because you might miss the bag. I don’t care for the back compartment for the bags as it is kind of a pain in the neck to get to, but it’s not the end of the world. These bins don’t hold as much as my old simple human can, therefore, I am changing my trash much more frequently. Heads up – there is no liner bin for the trash side of the can - there is only a removable bin for the recycling items. We fill our recycling items quickly, and even though we crush them down it really fills fast. This blue liner bin has a nice handle to help lift itself out of the can, and it washes easily. The foot pedal is nice and long so you don’t have to stand directly in front of the can too push on it with your foot. It closes so softly (which I’m not used to) that you don’t hear it and I keep catching myself turning back to see if it actually closed. Makes me feel foolish! I do suggest keeping the can an inch or two away from the wall. I tried flush against the wall but then the lid doesn’t automatically close every time. The finish on the outside of the can is very nice and so far I have had no smudges.Other than the individual bins not holding as much refuse than my old trash can I have no complaints – and that is not really a complaint because the size was stated in the description. It looks sharp, works as described, I think it’s a little pricey, but if it lasts as long as my old one (nine years and still going) then it’s worth every penny. I would definitely recommend this far. We will see what happens in six weeks, six months, or longer.

The thought of buying a $200 trash can kind of turned my stomach a bit but I was also tired of nice looking trash cans that wore out quickly or ugly dirty plastic ones that had no sense of style. Instead of having a nice dinner with the wife out on the town or buying some rare records I'd had my eye on, I used a bit of extra income to buy a really nice trash can. And I am thrilled with it!This review is actually for the SECOND can of this size I bought. Last year around this time I procured the can for our kitchen and just recently bought this one for my mother. It is great because it has a nice soft close lid that doesn't spring open when you don't want it to. It is brushed metal so it looks good in just about any kitchen. We live in a mid-century modern ranch with high ceilings and an open concept while my mother lives in an early 90's suburban home that has never been updated, and in neither location does this guy look out of place. It is quietly unassuming.Another feature I love is the built in bag holder for the trash. While it specifically houses Simplehuman-branded bags, I am a fan of these custom bags even though they cost a bit more. They fit the cans well and are exceptionally sturdy, so again, I feel I am getting value in quality even though I am paying a bit more. We are a house of two and only fill two bags a week, tops, and my mother is a widow who will probably only fill a bag every 10 days. The recycling tote is excellent. While we live in a city with mandated recycling and a dedicated recycling trash can we keep in our garage, we just fill it up and dump the recycling right into the rollout bin in the garage and do not use the blue bags, but the tote had a handle on it like a bucket so it is an easy process of removing and putting it back. I actually wish the recycling bin was larger as we fill that up every other day, so it is constantly full. My mother on the other hand, lives in a city where recycling is optional, so I got her the SImplehuman blue bags that fit this can and she likes it because it does not get too full or heavy for her to take out on trash night on her own, but likes that she is able to recycle with out it being a messy pain.Clearly this is a versatile trash can even in these two environments. I never thought I'd be telling friends and family to plop down $200 on a trash can, but over the past year, I continually have. It is a really well made and thought out product and worth the money!(Note: Picture is of my year old trashcan in my kitchen)
