This thing performs amazingly well. Had this out on two camping trips and its my new favorite saw. used to use a Svensaw but the triangle frame would often block bigger cuts. This one does not suffer from that design limitation.

This is an excellent saw!! Very happy with the size for backpacking and it is excellent for making shelters of just cutting anything.

I love this saw. It is perfect for carrying along in the woods. The blade is super sharp and rips through branches and logs quick with little effort. The handle is very comfortable rubber material. The action to open the blade is like that of a pocket knife, where you press down on the latch to release the blade and to lock it into position. It is lighter than I expected which is always a huge plus.I wish I hade more funds to purchase more Silky products!! Great stuff!

My son and I rafted 126 miles on Birch Creek Alaska, the first 8 miles and the last eight miles was full of downed trees and within reason the Bigboy saw cut through them easily, way better than the collapsible bow saw! There was no comparison between the folding bow saw and the bigboy!!!the downsideThe blade did not stay in the locked position so we secured it with a paracord. When we did an after trip discussion we wished we had purchased the katana for the bigger logs!

Look......you're not gonna cut truckloads of wood for the winter with this saw, BUT you could certainly remove small downed trees blocking the trail. It cuts fast and efficient. Its sharp like a surgeons scalpel and its very carry-able on a Moto or Bicycle or in an Overlanding Vehicle. I recommend it

Excellent saw. My first attempt was a flat piece of very well seasoned oak. At first I was a little unimpressed. The saw wanted to catch in the wood and not cut. I thought maybe I needed a saw with teeth finer than the large teeth. After experimenting around a minute or two, I figured out what I was doing wrong. Instead of pushing down while cutting, I started letting up and let the saw's weight feed the blade into the wood. It cut much better this way. The saw cut was very smooth. Next, I tried a piece of green oak. It went through it like a hot knife in butter! Just remember not to press down to hard on the wood and it cuts great!

What an incredible saw. I've had many saws over the years for camping and hunting but this thing is just amazing. I have never been able to cut through so much wood so effortlessly. Fallen limbs are a breeze and even smaller fallen trees in my path are no problem. I honestly pull this saw out over my small chainsaw quite often now since it cuts so rapidly that by the time I would have had the chainsaw primed and running the job is done. I wouldn't try using it while climbing with a tree stand since it's quite large but for a pack saw or even in the truck it is perfect. It slipped into one of my machete sheaths nicely so I can carry it on my person if need be. I love how the handle can be opened in an upward position which really makes cutting fallen limbs at ground level so much easier. I am so glad I found this saw on sale here on Amazon since normally it was quite a bit more expensive. Even at the full retail price though it is well worth the cost. The fact that the blade is replaceable and even can be had in different coarseness is a bonus. If you are debating whether this saw is worth the money believe me it is. I baulked at buying this saw for some years now and I kick myself for having waited so long. I'm extremely pleased with this tool and when and if I need another saw I'm definitely getting another Silky.

I'll start by saying, I really like this saw so far. The longer blade is extremely useful if you intend to cut wood/branches that might be up to 8 inches or perhaps even larger. I would think much larger and you diminish it's efficiency but you could certainly cut larger sizes with more effort.Solidly made construction. the blade is thinner than I expected, as this is my first longer blade saw from silky. I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised since that is one of the trademarks of the Silky but I figured longer likely meant a bit thicker. The blade flexes easily, just by whipping it to the side a bit the blade will flex. Not a bad thing mind you, in fact, it's really a good thing, thinner means less friction, less material to remove on each stroke, hence more efficient use of your energy. The saw cuts like a machine, I got the large tooth blade as I intend to use it for larger sized cuts and use my smaller 240 for limbs and medium tooth precision cuts and sawing. which works very well.I can also confirm that I like the thin blade very much. I'm typically a bigger, thicker heavier is better kind of guy. Not in this case, I have not used it extensively yet but have knocked down several cuts on 4-7 inch diameter wood. The large tooth bite allows for a much faster cut than the medium so I am impressed and very happy about that. As is typical with most of the well designed saws, you really do not want to exert much force on the saw.In my experience thus far, I have had almost no binding or jumping unless you exert unnecessary force on the blade. It cuts well without it, just keep a nice line and rhythm and it cuts like butter. The thinner blade and that flex I mentioned earlier appears to help alleviate some of the conditions of binding which I really like and again, you are working to remove a smaller amount of material to make the cut so it is very efficient.I also like the 2 position capability, that comes in very handy and is a well thought out addition for functionality and ease of use.The one thing that would be a nice to have is a blade lock when the blade is folded back. The lock out is solid, would be nice to have a similar notch in the blade on the fold to lock it down as solidly in the folded position. The blade is extremely sharp, I have had a saw or 2 jump off track and take a bite out of my hand, you do that with this saw and you might be making a trip to the hospital. One last note, this is a cut on the pull saw, it does not cut in both directions.Would definitely recommend, I intend to use it for camping/bushcraft and well, it's intended purpose of trimming my larger trees around my property.
