Pros:This lens is very sharp wide open. There is a slight vignette at f/1.4, but typically you’ll be using this for portraits, so it actually helps draw your eyes to the centre. The bokeh is extremely round and satisfying , particularly in the centre. Stopping down the lens makes it a little bit sharper.The 85mm DG DN is extremely light weight given big the aputure . The included lens hood protects the lens very well, and is easy to install/reverse.If you are into portraits in busy environments, this lens is essential to your lens collection.Cons:Minimum focusing distance is not good, I would not recommend this lens for anyone that’s hoping to use it on the side for macro photography.Autofocus uses Sigma’s older Stepping Motors which were pretty good on mirrorless cameras when this lens released in 2019. However, even on my Panasonic S5iiX the focus sometimes hunts, and can be a bit slow. Sigmas newer HLA motors are much quicker, and in the rare circumstance they do hunt, it cycles through the focus range extremely fast. Hopefully they do an updated version of this lens with the HLA motors.The filter threads sit deeper into the lens hood, where the hood narrows a bit. This means it’s pretty much impossible to use normal filters with this lens and hood. Even with the hood off none of my filters seem to want to thread on, and if they do it feels like they could easily fall of or strip the threads.EDIT: This lens does fit 77mm filters with the lens hood, but using a step up ring to 82mm is not possible with the hood.SUMMARY:Most of the cons are applicable when you are hoping to shoot VIDEO. However, for PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY the pros of the lens heavily outweigh any cons.I was a little nervous to purchase this lens on Amazon, but I am happy to report that the lens was brand new in box, and have had no issues with it. The lens was cheaper than buying from a local retailer.10/10 would buy from seller again.

The lens itself is phenomenal. First look the lens works great it’s y Leica sl2, beautiful images. Took a bit to arrive and when I thought there might be a problem the seller responded immediately.
