It's lightweight, 433 grams on my kitchen scale and small. My entire sleep pad fits inside and it doesn't seem to leak when the garden sprinkler "rains" on it.I camped out on a July Arizona night in it and it's warm. I wish the bug net opening part was a bit bigger but it works great at keeping the crawly insects off you.It seems to turn into a sauna inside with the waterproof flap closed so more of a use with flap open only except when it's raining kinda deal.Update 9/2024: I took it out backpacking in rainy conditions and the night was cool enough that having the rain flap closed all night wasn't a big deal "sauna" wise. Condensations still formed inside due to my breath but my bigger concern is that had the rain not let up I'm not sure how I would have gotten out of it and still kept the interior dry.

Pros: It works, it seems well made, and it will keep you dry.Cons: The tent fabric does not breathe well at all. if it is raining, you have to get creative to get fresh air without letting rain into the bag. This is good for emergencies, or camping in cool weather with no chance of rain.

This is a fantastic Bivi and their support is also way above par. It’s light and performs well.

Long-time Bivy user here. I'm leaving the Army at the end of the year, and wanted to purchase a civilian Bivy to replace my Army-issued Bivy Sack. I purchased this model new, and immediately took on a 3-day hike in the Guadapule mountains. It rained moderately 2/3 nights, and relative to the other hikers that also used bivys or tents, I got completely soaked. Really bummed me out because I was using a down sleeping bag. My Army bivy always kept me dry in this kind of weather, and this thing really let me down! After two days of hiking, the fabric was completely soaked and seemed to provide very little water resistance. Most of the water seemed to be coming in through the zipper or bug mesh face port. No matter how I positioned the cover flap or adjusted the zipper, rain was still creeping in and pooling at the bottom. There was also a ton of condensation forming inside from my breath, which only abated when I partially opened the zipper, acting as a funnel letting water in. I had to side-sleep and keep the opening on the side. One fundamental design flaw is that the zipper is on the top of the bivy, and the bottom half encompasses the upper half. The base acts like a spoon and catches all the water as it rolls off the top. It also requires you to completely remove the top in order to get in/out, which sweeps most of the water right in. Other bivy models open from the side, and have the upper half encapsulate the lower half, helping mitigate runoff damage. The bug mesh flap was pretty impractical because the waterproof flap is on the outside. Once it starts raining, you have to completely unzip to close it.The tenting feature seemed nice (the paracord was not included, I had to cut my own), but it made it difficult to close the zipper if the top was pulled taunt. I ended up foregoing the tenting feature because it pulled the ceiling tight and made the bivy space narrower.+1 star because it's definitely lightweight and portable. I plan on returning this item and buying an Army bivy from a surplus store. One of my hiking buddies used the Black Diamond ribbed bivy, and stayed dry the entire time. Another friend used the Outdoor Research bivy (non-ribbed) and also got wet.

I was worried it would be restrictive but it has plenty of space. I can lay flay and put my feet flat while my knees bent and it has plenty of clearance. I can sleep on my side and stretch my legs anytime.

It doesn't appear to be waterproof. First night, light rain..woke up with sleeping bag wet, eventually right through..inside of bivvy also wet. Very disappointed.

Bought to use as sleeping bag cover, possible overkill as it seems to be more robust & much better quality than the slightly less expensive black diamond starlight.Last one in stock but item is in A1 condition. US to UK 6 days standard..Verdict- Bluddy marvellous !

Super light and packable. I just used this on a mild weather bikepacking trip and was very pleased with it. I did have a little more condensation on the inside (especially in the foot area of the bag) than I was hoping for, but not enough to be problematic. The bottom is not as robust as what I have used in the past, but it did not have any punctures to my sleeping pad.

Glad to have this bivy. The brand caught my eye first and it gets good reviews on all the top ten lists I've seen including YouTube videos. It's very thin tent like material. Not designed so much for warmth but I'm using it in conjunction with my 800 fill power down mummy bag so no worries there. My only complaint is the zipper quality could be better but if used cautiously they should hold up just like a tent.Pros are that it's very spacious and ultralight. I got the long version as I'm 6'3 and 205 lbs. It fits my 88" mummy bag, an inflatable pillow, and my ultralight sleeping pad fits too. I've added links below to the bag, pillow, and pad I'm using. It stuffs down to about the size of a 1 liter water bottle.Hyke & Byke Eolus 0 Degree F 800 Fill Power Hydrophobic Goose Down Sleeping Bag with ClusterLoft Base - Ultra Lightweight 4 Season Men’s and Women’s Mummy Bag Designed for Backpacking https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XS52W8W/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_ky4yFbMRDBJXYTREKOLOGY Ultralight Inflating Travel/Camping Pillows - Aluft 1.0 Compressible, Compact, Inflatable, Comfortable, Ergonomic Pillow for Neck & Lumbar Support While Camp, Hike, Backpacking https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XGRR42/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_wz4yFbSGQ7DJ0ECOTEK Outdoors Insulated Hybern8 4 Season Ultralight Inflatable Sleeping Pad with Contoured FlexCell Design - Easy, Comfortable, Light, Durable, Hammock Approved - Sub Zero Temp Rating https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GZJDZWC/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_XB4yFbMWA74DVThis Sierra Designs Bivy is a great product and I'd very much recommend it. This bivy looks awesome! I was really happy with how small and light it packed down. It looks a little questionable with how water proof it is but I guess I’ll find out soon enough. I plan to use a small tarp with it anyways. If your a big guy id definitely get the large that this model comes in.
