Padlocking provisions help prevent against unauthorized access. Options include steel or plastic enclosures, pull out or sliding switch disconnect, fusible or non-fused, and options with GFI receptacles installed.

You MUST install one next to every AC or Heat Pump as a service disconnect. It's worth the investment, and it could save a life.

Didn't like the wire connectors being loose and ready to fall out when trying to make the connections in a hurry.

When time permitting, I buy off Amazon due to cost and time savings by not having to spend an hour at the big box home improvement stores. It is the same box and works without issue.

I like this box. It's a bit smaller than a typical disconnect for an air condictioner and looks tidy mounted on the side of the house. It uses two 250V cartridge fuses, which is recommended for motors rather than just your main panel's circuit breaker alone. Disconnect involves simply yanking on the fuse holder; this opens the circuit and de-energizes your air-conditioner.I just put a stainless steel bolt and nut through the hole that some may use to put a padlock instead. This is plenty to keep honest people out of it.Some reviews have complained about bad knockouts. Yeah, they're a little flimsy because the box metal is sorta thin. But I managed to make them with a pair of needlenose pliers. Just a good swift blow on the center slug and then it cracks the first concentric ring. You can then pry up on the slug, bend it up and then use the needlenose pliers to wiggle it until it snaps free. It would have been nice if it was just 1/2" trade size knockouts because it's not likely anyone would require 3/4" or bigger.

Highly recommend, not seeing this "thin metal" come are writing about. its pretty robust or something going under a house's eves. I prefer in line fuses due to large power surges in my area that can damage equipment (FL panhandle, lots of storms) just make sure to grab an extra set of fuses in case of a blowout to not be left in the heat without AC. plenty of room for wiring. (yes mine is odd the person who installed used 2 communications wires i have no idea why)

No fuse with unit. You will have to get correct size—look at your load and buy accordingly. Not superior quality construction.

Was for my split air heat pump. I just needed a disconnect per code requirements. I failed to notice this is a fusible disconnect, which means you have to buy fuses ($$). Doh!Siemens sells the non-fusible 'disconnect' for about the same price as this one.

Yes, you can get an a/c disconnect without fuses. Which meets code. Don't. Because the fuses will pop on a surge before your breaker will - protecting the downstream circuits. Lost a $6K multi-zone mini-split because the breaker never tripped while the control circuit board fried. This will accept 15, 20, 25, or 30 amp cartridge fuses. Cheap protection.

One of my wife's dogs used my condenser as an urinal, needless to say, I had to replace the unit since the urine corroded the copper, and leaked all the freon.I told the installer to replace the fuse box, the contacts were bad, I had to go and wiggle it, then it would work fine. He told me it was a waste of money, and there was nothing wrong with it.I bought this unit and installed myself, my A/C condenser calls for a maximum fuse amperage of 35 Amps, So I was a little bit concerned, but it's working just fine, the condenser has a 22 amp rating.
