Opened a iPhone 11 Pro Max without heating the phone up to loosen the adhesive. Worked on the 3rd try.

used this to replace the battery in my iphone 12. worked great! you dont need the fixed holder as the rear suction will hold the phone in place when the screen comes up. the included knife was also very useful in removing the adhesive from the back of the battery.

Last year I replaced the battery in my iPhone 6S. Separating the screen from the phone body was a struggle. Recently I replaced the battery in my wife’s iPhone 6 Plus. I saw this gadget while shopping for the battery, and over my head there appeared the image of a lightbulb! Yes!And you know what? This thing works. It makes the job easy. E.Z.

The Clamp is great, the little plastic piece that's supposed to align the phone...useless...won't grip the phone, that being said it's not necessary. the clamp works just fine without it. changed 2 Iphone batteries with it works like a charm.

I used this tool to pull the back cover off of my Samsung Galaxy S7. I don't think it is designed well. The handles are too short to get decent leverage and the suction cups too small to hold onto the phone surfaces well. I first cleaned both the front glass and rear cover of my phone thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to ensure it was free of any contamination that might impede with the suction cup action, but I found that the suction cups were stretching when I clamped down such that the short handles would touch each other and not allow for further pulling force. After holding the handles together for about 15 seconds each time one of the suction cups would pull free from the phone. After about two dozen tries using the tool and applying heat with a heat gun around the phone seam I was finally able to get a tiny opening, so small that I couldn't see it. It was the "opener" tool that came with the suction cup clamp that saved the day. The opener tool is thin enough yet flexible with a rigid edge to allow it to be worked into a tiny crack (opening). After that I was able to work the opener tool completely around the phone back cover while alternately using the heat gun to soften the glue.**Warning** don't make the same foolish mistake I made. I figured that since the opener tool worked so well in removing the back cover it would work well to separate the battery from the glue beneath it. It did and worked well, however I manage to push the opener blade underneath the battery wrapping and started to smell a strong odor. It was the glue out gassing due to an extremely hot battery. I had to grab the battery with needle nose pliers and run it outside setting it down on the cement to cool. I strongly recommend only using the plastic tools to get the battery separated from the glue and going very slowly using as little force as possible.I gave this tool a three star rating because I was able to get the job done with it, but I think it could have been much easier with a better tool. Next time I plan to look for one with better suction cups and longer handles with wider distance between them, even if more expensive.

The pliers easily fit in my hand. (I wear size large gloves) This does not effect the pliers performance. I applied pressure with a couple of fingers and my thumb and that was enough to crack open the back of the phone. The suction cups are well formed and easily adhere to smooth surfaces. As shown in the picture the pliers come with some tools. (There was a iPhone 4 or 5 screen protector, too.) The case cracking videos show how to use the pry tool. It can cause a lot of damage internally and externally to your device. So use caution when using it. (I have a stack of guitar-pic style openers and spudgers, and so I use them mostly. Less likely to damage the phone.)I gave 5* to durability, because the pliers, suction cups, and phone alignment holder are more than sufficient to withstand many normal phone case openings. I applied heat to the phone while applying pressure and the heat did not cause the suction cup to release, or harm the pliers in any way.I did use the pliers in the other configuration, where both cups faced the phone, and held it while I applied heat and used my opening tools. (Placing the tool in a vise, while holding the phone, and then using another suction cup to pull up while applying heat might be a handy use. I didn't have a vise to try this technique.)
