A detachable storage pouch snaps on the back of the driver's pad for the passenger to be able to store items they want to keep handy, the bottom of this pouch has hook and loop to secure it down to the pad to prevent the pouch from flopping up. The same color matched fabric also goes over the tubes providing a clean custom fit. These tubes are also adjustable while the driver is on the bike, allowing them to get the most comfortable ride. Seen many, bought it. Installation was difficult. One side was bent and had to be hammered back to shape. Set the height and such, first long trip, the backrest kept moving. Myeife constantly complained that the side backs would rub against her legs and she got sore spots. After 4 months, dumped it for a Utopia backrest, never had another problem

Item was not bent to fit. Had to do some bending to make it fit. A lot more trouble than I wanted it to be.

Backrest does not fit GL 1800. As per instructions, when attempting to bend the hoop to try to make it fit, a piece of chrome came loose. Overall, this product, if able to get it on at all, would be a poor fit for the GL1800. The hoop seems way too small. I would like to return it for a refund.Regards,PS: I had a Show Chrome backrest on my GL 1500 and it fit perfectly and performed flawlessly for 25 years.

Once I figured out how to install the back rest to the post it fit perfectly. The direction wasn't clear on how to do that. But, overall great purchase and it looks NICE.

Very impressed with the quality and value. Seems well made. Looks very nice on my 2012 GL 1800. The chrome isvery good and the tube covers and pad match the bike beautifully!

I have not been able to make this backrest work for me. I am a woman with hips and slight sway back. When I adjust the backrest forward to touch my waist the sidebars push the sides of the seat into my hips and becomes uncomfortable. In order to push just the backrest forward and not the sidebars, I wedged a piece of foam in between the seat hinge area so it will force it forward more. That helps, but I can really only touch the backrest when my feet are up on the cruzer pegs and I rotate my pelvis forward to flatten my back. I can only ride this way for a short time though. Just finished a 2500 mile ride and only touched the backrest maybe 5 times. It was not worth the money for me to have this. For others body types, this backrest may work fine.
