Your cart is empty.Our Shinto Saw Rasp is an 11" flat rasp made from 10 hardened teeth saw blades held together by rivets with both coarse and fine sides and the teeth oriented to cut on the push stroke. Plus it now features a new TPE Durable Plastic Handle for improved grip in all conditions. The teeth are designed to help prevent clogging and to be easily cleaned should the need arise. While the tool may seem odd to someone more used to traditional rasps, it works so well it will soon be one of your favorite tools. Suitable for any shaping task, from rough to fine work.

It does a good job on shaping handles and removing wood that you would normally get at with a spoke shave or bastard wood file.

Saw it being used by a YouTube woodworker recently and had to try it for myself. Compared to a traditional Rasp, the Shinto seems easier get get started and control. It takes off more material per stroke on the coarse side and leaves a fairly smooth finish on the fine side. Only negative I have, mine came with a Plastic Handle and not the wooden one shown in the picture.

I can’t believe I ever tried to shape guitar necks without one of these things. Best money I have spent on Amazon. If you do anything with wood get one of these!

Let's face it, proper hand stitched rasps are really expensive. The price of this one makes it look a bit like a "poor man's" option but the quality of work I can produce with it is superb. I work in White Oak and Ash mainly but this worked just as well with other woods (hard and soft). You have to learn how to use it but once mastered, this really is a great choice. You will need to clean up afterwards with some sandpaper or a mill file but that's the same with any rasp. I can't recommend it enough. Treat yourself.

This is probably one of the best woodworking tools I have ever bought. It has been highly recommended by Paul Sellers and many others on Youtube, so I finally thought that I had better have one. I am not disappointed. The finish I get with it is so much better than I expected, leaving very little filing and sanding to do. Well worth the money!

It was exactly the right size for carving a groove in the log supports for a deck I built. The groove helped support the deck boards and hid any imperfections made in cutting with the hole saw.

Removes wood easily, and leaves a surprisingly smooth finish (at least as smooth as a traditional rasp would). I will purchase another to have on hand in case something happens to this one, or I wear it out. I would recommend this tool to a friend.
