It worked great on my old metal cabinet that has built in slots for shelf clips. Works perfectly

PROS:- Easier to install and remove than old style supports- Larger surface area than old style supportsCONS:- Still no built-in provision for securing shelf against sliding forward (or back if nothing behind shelf)- May need to be pulled and reinstalled to get clips levelI was initially someone disappointed as these clips did not seem be quite as easy to install as expected, and the clips had a slight upward tilt (see image). Pulling the clips out and reinstalling them, however, I found they both went in easier and I was able to get them level (see image). Even upon the first attempt, however, I found these much easier to install and remove than the old style clips.I also found they were easy to remove if I simply rotated them upward 90 degrees while ignoring any resistance. That said, I noted that the tab of the clip did cut through the white vinyl covering the side of the shelving unit, although this would not normally be visible, as it is behind the steel upright the clips go into. (See image). If Amazon allowed fractional ratings, I might knock it down to 4.5 stars for this, but it is such a minor issue the will typically go unnoticed that I certainly don't feel it warrants a full star deduction. The one problem these share with the old style clips is they include no provision for securing wooden shelving from sliding back and forward. With these, that could have easily been accomplish by punching a small hole in the flat area of the clip, so that a small screw or nail could be put through the hole into the shelf to secure it. (Observant persons may note a small nail behind one of my old clips in the shelf above. That is what I currently use to keep the shelf from sliding forward. On some shelves, I have another forward of the rear clip).I wish these had existed many years ago when I retrofitted this old retail display unit as a shelving unit/bookcase. The only positive advantage the old style clips MIGHT have is they could potentially hold more weight, but I expect one would need to really load down the shelves for weight to be an issue with these.I will be using these going forward when I add new shelves, and if I relocate any of the existing shelves or tear down the shelving unit at any time, I will be replacing the old clips with these.

We have a house that was built around 2000 and it has those inset shelf brackets inside the cabinets, with the little rectangle holes for the brackets. These fit right in and were easier to use than the old style, which we had in our last house.
