This is easy to use and lightweight. It does a good quick job but runs low on batteries quickly. It also has a self cleaning brush that is really nice. However the cleaning level is nothing like the corded upright Rotary True Pet. Sharks True Pet , although heavier is more powerful and versatile. In either case Sharks Service team is always there to excel in customer support.

This is the best battery powered stick vacuum I have owned. The previous ones usually had a few good points but also substantial flaws. This Shark Vertex Pro has all of the good point, few flaws, while having better suction than any of those I have used in the past. It has enough battery power to do all of the hard surfaces in my home. (I use a Roomba in the three bedrooms with wall-to-wall carpeting.) I electronically switches from hard surface to carpet mode for our area rugs so you don't need to use or attach a separate carpet head. Like some vacuums it has a light on its head to help see bits on the floor and does a great job on stray kitty litter or pet hair with a single pass. I also appreciate that the battery is replaceable. (I had to toss one previous vacuum after 2 years because its battery was not replaceable.) In addition, if you have a larger home you could buy a second battery to keep plugged into the charger too swap in when the first runs out of charge. It has a good size dirt receptacle which is easy to empty. The only nit is that it is pretty top heavy and therefore is not very stable standing by itself unless you push a button to fold the top half down. The upside of this is that it is then more compact and easy to store out of the way.

Buy it no matter what, that’s all I can say. When we purchased corded vacuums I got the Shark Navigator and haven’t gone back to any other corded brand. In choosing cordless though I always thought it was more of a gimmick than a true tool so I tended to buy cheap knock offs to just get pet hair from the floors and possibly something heavier like dirt. Anything else and the two cordless vacuums were so underpowered that I never believed it would come close to really cleaning up much at all. When our third cheap brand cordless died in less than a year, I thought I’d upscale to something that might last over a year. I took nearly a month researching brand after brand to find one that was both affordable, reliable and powerful enough for us. Ultimately I bought this Shark Vertex for the following reasons: 1) At $365 it was half the price of a Dyson. It was still twice as much as what I’d paid for cheap no name brands but I needed something that would actually last. While not cheap, I could afford it. 2) The problem with no name brands is that if one piece is lost or broken they don’t tend to sell parts for them. With this Shark I made sure that there were replacement parts for anything I might break, and there are. Any repairs down the line should cost tens of dollars from now on, not another $100-150 to buy another cheap cordless to throw away a few months later. 3) This thing is powerful. Wow. None of the other cordless vacuums I had really did much on carpet. The brush might grab some of the detritus on the rugs but it was a 50-50 crap shoot. As for pet hair, that was even worse. This Vertex is pretty incredible. On carpet mode I’m able to get it on my deep plush rug and get pet hair and anything else right off. You know it’s working when you can’t see anything on the rug but after you go over it there’s all this captured filth sitting in the container! Not only does the rotating head work really well (and especially the anti hair tangling feature) but the suction is very good. Obviously not as good as the corded but definitely good enough. We are alternating cord-cordless every weekend so that we get extra deep cleaning every other week. Battery power is impressive. We’ve done the two large rugs downstairs, the hard wood floors, the carpeted stairs and four carpeted bedrooms all one one charge-just. But that it’s able to do all of that is really impressive. Additionally you can also purchase another battery for $80 if you think you might runout if power. The “crack” feature which allows the handle to look like a broken arm and get to almost a 90 degree angle so that you can get under furniture is a pretty nifty feature. I thought it was a silly gimmick but I use it quite a bit. One thing that bothers me though is that the little toggle that releases the straight arm into the angle is a small plastic piece that I’m pretty sure I’m going to accidentally break off one day-need to check if THAT part is replaceable. Couple other things I didn’t like: There’s no wall mount but that’s probably because it’s heavy at nearly 10 lbs. Took a couple uses to get used to the new weight but once you get used to it, it’s definitely worth the trade off of some extra weight for extra power. The other thing is that the roller head is not only larger because of the dual rollers, but it’s pretty noisy on the carpet mode. Again, I think it’s a fair trade off to get a louder heavier roller head for much more effective cleaning power. All in all this vacuum is a keeper. The vacuum is warrantied for defects for up to 5 years! For normAl wear and tear of parts that need to be replaced, those items are available on the Shark store and on Amazon.

We have a three level house, and previously had two plug-in uprights stored in our carpeted basement and carpeted upper level respectively, and had to haul one of them either up or down to clean the main level, which is all hardwoods except for a carpeted main level guest suite (which I use as my office) and a few area rugs.We adopted a rescue pup who stays on the main level, so we needed something more convenient that could handle her hair and tracked dirt along with food debris in the kitchen across the hardwoods, area rugs and the one carpeted room, while preferably lasting long enough to cover the entire ~1850sqft main level in one go.After a lot of research, I chose the Vertex Duo.When I first received the vacuum I tested it out through the entire main level. Not only did the vacuum last the entire level, but it still had a solid power bar remaining. I didn't realize how dusty our hardwoods were!!! Halfway through vacuuming, I noticed in the foyer that what I had vacuumed was glossy, while the floor ahead of me was almost matte!! The light on the front of the vacuum is excellent as well for showing dust and debris which are otherwise difficult to see!I've been using the Duo regularly for a few months now and it has been a blessing (and is actually fun to use). I keep it on hardwood setting with regular suction over our hardwoods and smaller rugs / runners, only occasionally having to pull the turbo trigger, and it does a wonderful job. I use it on the carpet setting across larger 6x8 and 7x10 area rugs and in my office, and have never had to use the turbo function for it to get everything! Every once in a while I have to go over a string the dog pulled off her tug toy or similar a couple times, but the vacuum always gets it and never tangles. It leaves a clean floor with nice vacuum lines in my office as well.I can often track where my 8yo son has been by following the crumb trail - the Duo excels at making those trails disappear as well!I'm 6'2", so I love being able to unlock and flex the vacuum to get under couches, tables, desks and such without bending over / messing up my back!I've also used all the tips as well! The anti-allergen tip is awesome for our TV, tables, blinds, fans, etc... It swivels so you can get both above and below fan blades! The brush is great for furniture, air registers / returns, etc... The brush unclips to expose the 'pet muli-tool' which I have only used a couple times since our dog isn't allowed on furniture, but it did well pulling various fibers off, so I'd assume it would do well with pet hair as well. The handheld portion is light weight, and the edging tool does great on baseboards, corners, cars, etc...I couldn't be happier with this vacuum - it does everything I hoped it would and more, and offers a huge bang for the buck! I'm not joking when I said it's actually fun to use - I find myself vacuuming more now than ever (and not just because we have a dog)...

Our home has two dogs and two cats. Our Dyson V10 was so tempermental; forever taking apart the unit to cut pet hair from the floor brushes. The deal breaker was the internal filter; the vacuum would start and stop as though the battery wasn't charged, yet the filter was clean. We've been purchasing Dyson vacuum's, stick vacuums and even their hair products. I would still recommend Dyson for everything except their stick vacuum; we took a chance on the Shark and I could not be happier with it's performance and it's price!

After returning a 'basic' and then a 'mid' unit, I purchased the high-end machine. The first two did not have a removable battery, meaning that when the battery ultimately failed, I would either have to ship the entire unit for repair or trash it. Additionally, in order to complete 50-55 min. of floor vacuuming in one go, I require not one battery, but two. Why? First, because although advertised as a 60 minute battery, this only applies when the vacuum handheld; ie. not attached to the floor portion AND run on the lowest (eco) setting. The realistic charge length for this battery used to vacuum bare floors on mid-power is 40 minutes. Second, you should never run the battery down to zero charge, nor charge it completely. This decreases its lifetime. Running each battery from 80-20% charge is preferable, which means each battery should be used for no more than 30 minutes. Hence, 2 batteries are required to a 50-55 min. job.As others have warned, there's a learning curve with respect to the various button placements, because they change when the vacuum is folded vs upright. So it's easier than you think to release the dust cannister and drop it to the ground, when you intend to release the lock which unfolds the machine! My only concern with the Shark line is that models change so frequently that I doubt whether replacement batteries will be available in 4-5 years, when these finally expire.

Long-haired dogs with a minimum of three to four walks a day, do bring in debris. My home is constantly in need of vacuuming. Being a senior, my old heavy machine was becoming unwieldy. The shape of one of the tools was also too wide to get into tight crevices. With the Shark IZ462H, if there is any bits and pieces that have been brought in from the dog walk, I simply reach for the hand held section and instantly the mess is gone. I use it now to clean up the fallen flowers on my back porch and even remove the stamens from lilies without risking staining. Engaging the extra force button facilitates this.Nor can I believe how long the battery lasts. It is also relatively quiet. This is an amazing vacuum that stores so easily too. The clear dust container allows you to see how effective it in action. I love having my home once again looking its best.
