The sera O2-Test monitors the actual oxygen level in the water within minutes and allows for acting in time. sera O2 plus provides quick oxygen supply. Sufficient for approx. 60 measurements.

I played with this kit in every way, reduced water temperature, increased surface agitation, added plants, removed plants, even injected oxygen into the tank with a diffuser. Electronic sensor says the oxygen level changes (ironically within the kit resolution) but the kit reading is always the same.

For a 37 gallon, tested it with just a HOB filter running and then 24 hrs later running two additional air stones powered by a 5W pump. Both tests read 4mg/l which seems highly unlikely.I'm going with another more expensive test kit that's not marketed specifically for aquariums. Not ideal but still better than spending $200-800 for a decent electronic meter.

The test requires filling the tube all the way to the top, which can get messy. The lid has a tiny stopper that can pop out when you close the tube with the lid after adding the reagents, leading to a nice little splash out of the stopper hole after the stopper pops out. The test results are moderately difficult to make out, color-wise. Overall I wouldn't buy it again.

So this thing worked very well and gave a reading that made perfect sense. I have a 55 gallon tank with a few large goldfish. They all started air gulping really badly and thought they had some sort of gill infection. I decided to buy this test to make sure it wasn't my oxygen levels. Well I found out why they were gulping so bad. They had an oxygen reading of 4mg. Despite what it says on the chart, oxygen at 6mg will cause fish to start gulping. At 4mg they become distressed. So off to buy some sponge filters I went!About my pic color difference of the water and the chart and about the bad reviews. For some reason in my pic the color on the chart and the color of the water look completely different, but in person they ARE the exact same color. ALSO people have been giving this test kit a bad review because they said the colors don't match. IN THE INSTRUCTIONS it says you need natural lighting or (as in the case with me) indoor lighting that is close to natural lighting. If your lighting isn't right the colors will be very off.

Easy to use, but difficult to compare to the color chart--colors don't match very well. I have seen a color change from no aeration to full aeration, but fish behavior is a better indicator than this test. I can never get it above 4mg/l (maybe) giving the color match a wide benefit. Because I have no truth to compare it against, I really don't know how accurate this is. Maybe they are just trying to sell their oxygen boost product shown in their instructions...

Tested my aquarium water and it worked perfectly. I don't know how accurate it is as I have nothing to compare it to. It read 8 ml which is about what I expected to see in my freshwater aquarium. It was very easy to use and read.
