Would be a 4-5 star review but I feel like my product was used despite coming in a sealed package. I need it and it works well so I will keep it but it came discolored beat up with dents and scratches on it and overall seemed very strange quality wise.

This is a nicely made egg tumbler, if a bit large. You can make a DIY egg tumbler using parts from a foam filter, but honestly it won't be as nice as this tumbler. If you are raising large eggs, like cichlids, this tumbler will probably be fine as-is. If you are raising smaller eggs, like red cherry shrimp or cory cats, then you need to find a way to keep the eggs from going through the top perforated plate and escaping or getting stuck in the largish holes of the bottom perforated plastic plates.I plan on tumbling cory cat eggs in this unit, so I got some fine mesh to cover the top perforated plate so the eggs and fry can't escape out the top. The bottom perforated plate is glued in, so rather than try and pop it out, I took the foam piece which is stuffed under the bottom perforated plate, cut it in half length-wise, and surrounded half of the foam with the fine mesh and put it on top of the bottom perforated plate. The remaining half of the foam gets inserted back into the tumbler below the bottom perforated plate.

I am IMPRESSED with this egg tumbler. I have some Cory cats that kept eating their eggs a few days after they stuck them to the glass. On the day I got this tumbler, they laid eggs all over and I was able to collect them and place them in this tumbler, of the 100 plus eggs, I got over 90% of them to hatch, thanks to this product.

This really is a great product but I would suggest switching out the air control valve as it really is not of quality. I almost lost an entire batch of eggs as the air flow just quit working because it was bumped buy a child or dog and the top came detached luckily I caught it and replaced the valve and only lost some not all.

I ordered it for my shrimp, Incase a berried female was to die I could try and save the eggs, it arrived the very next day, the only problem is it’s to tall for the 20gl tanks I keep them in, but I easily cut it down w/fine tooth blade on jig saw and it works great!

Super easy to set up, doesn't feel cheap and works as needed. The sponge is tiny but coarse. Also when an egg isn't fertilized or viable it nice because they start to float and this will split it into the tank where my bigger fish eat in a second so overall pleased and would/will buy again. Once you understand how these work you can DIY them but for the price if only buying one like me as a hobbyist not a breeder the $11 this cost me is cheaper than buying PVC and/or clear tubing, air line, valve, air stone, platform to allow flow and suction cups to hold in place
