I'm still in the process of evaluating the Ultra's capabilities. But, a few initial thoughts. A person that is used the original TinySA can operate and calibrate the Ultra out of the box. I note that an actual operation manual specifically for the Ultra seems to be unavailable, so a person new to the TinySA will have to look through the original TinySA manual and gather bits and pieces on TinySA website for the additional features of the Ultra. They refer to groups.io for a knowledge base and I have experienced mixed results. The waterfall of the Ultra seems not as clear and distinct as the original TinySA. On the bench, the Ultra is reasonable for most spectrum analyzer applications, but not the precision of commercial equipment. In summary, a reasonable value for cost and small enough to fit in your hand, a useful tool in my tool box for sure. Cheers!

Touchscreen works better with the stylus than your finger. Took a little bit to find the trigger auto, once, stop and level settings, but once I found them, it works great. It doesn't remember all your settings when you turn it off. Some, but not all? If you set the start & stop frequencies the same, it shows the data going across the screen as if being seen on an oscilloscope. Nice feature. Screen capture to the SD card works great.

The TinySA appears to be an original, albeit with the SeeSii logo stamped on the front. The TinySA is an impressive spectrum analyzer, with a noise floor of -90 dBm. With the LNA enabled, the noise floor drops to -120 dBm with auto settings in all frequency ranges, from 0-5 GHz. The analyzer easily picked up the output from a nearby waveform generator at 10 MHz. The analyzer also was able to track 2.4GHz transmissions with the stock antenna, and even had a waterfall chart to show what was happening. Overall, a huge amount of value for so little cost. I would highly recommend this spectrum analyzer.

We used this SA to diagnose and correct interference from TV stations that was interfering with a wireless mic system. By seeing where the interference was, we were able to move our wireless channels around the problem areas. It works well in the handheld mode (easy to control the touch screen with the included stylus) and even better when connected through the PC app. The controls (frequency range, RBW, VBW) are straightforward and produce scans that compare with much more expensive SA's. The only problem we ran into was with the PC app: After changing a setting such as frequency or RBW/VBW we sometimes needed to restart the scan or power-cycle the SA to reconnect the USB port. Otherwise, though it works great and is a great value for the cost.

So, you have your VNA to have your antennas and filters tuned and ready to go, the Tiny SA is the next tool for your workbench. With the included 25-watt attenuator, you can measure the RF performance of your handi-talkie. If you dial-down the output of your mobile or base rig or add a larger attenuator, you can do the same.Have RF noise in your home or shack from a wall-wart or LED light, plug in the included whip antenna and go on a fox hunt for noise. This is a great tool for the shack and workbench for the intermediate technical person. This unit is everything I expected with sufficient cables and accessories to get started.Battery life is good. The app is good as well.Spend some time with the SA and the app. It's worth it. This is a great device for the $$I RECOMMEND!

It works very well but in my case, the audio output jack was cold soldered. As soon as I attempted to plug in my cord, the jack popped off of the board. I opened the case and soldered it back into the PCB and it appears to work as designed. Otherwise it works out of the box as intended

This is a great upgrade to the original TinySA. The bigger screen is much better for use, the case is way more professional and durable. Operation is improved in nearly every way. A lot of built in measurements have been included with the Ultra version. This one does appear to be a "Real one" and not a clone. I was able to burn the newest firmware in it and it seems to work fine. Inside the build quality is very nice with good soldering, etc. There seems to be good programming support with some easy to use Python code and a decent TinySA application (that you can also use to update the firmware).Overall - for the cost, I certainly would buy this again.Edit - I just completed a Measurement Level Calibration Verification against my calibrated 4 GHz Signal Generator. The TinySA Ultra meets specifications (quoted as +/- 2dB). My test setup has a measurement uncertainty of +/-0.5 dB not including mismatch error to the TinySA, so it did really well! (See attached figure).

I have used $40,000 Spectrum analyzers and the TinySA is not one of those. It is not as precise but sure a lot cheaper. But, as long as you don't need high precision, it is great. For setting FM deviation or AM modulation, you can get spot on. I had a need to see the relative RF levels on some of my projects and this unit does that quite well. Highly recommended.
