I think this is a great product. Takes a bit of time to set up but well worth it.

I bought two for an automatic gate outdoors. As reported, any rain and they get false detections. I tried realignment and covering the reflector but no luck.

I purchased this for my driveway, the dry closure momentary output of this Seco unit is being monitored by an external device. Having used Optex units before I knew the drill concerning optical alignment of both the base unit and the reflector. All was well until this morning when the Seco unit was false triggering (broken beam). I grabbed a handheld reflector to troubleshoot and found it worked properly all the way to the permanent reflector, 37 feet away. I noticed that the permanent reflector was damp from the morning dew (this is Los Angeles, it was just morning dew, not rain) I dried the permanent reflector and the system again worked perfectly. The alignment is optimum, it appears the damp reflector really affects the range of this unit. And I didn't expect this issue since the Seco base unit is intended for outdoor applications. After a week of observation: Any rain- it false triggers. Morning dew/ condensation- it triggers. It was specified as a 50 foot range, I won't be buying any Seco units in the future. I own two Optex systems, I'll stick with them.

Really works great as a driveway alarm. I have the reflector 41 feet from the main unit and it works fine. When I first connected it to my alarm, it did not always trip on someone walking up my driveway. I went into the alarm menus and set the zone that it is on to a much faster rate. Instead of 2.5 times per second the alarm panel checks that zone 25 times per second now. Also, in really heavy rain that we get in Florida, the sensor can be tripped. I fixed this by purchasing 2 extra reflectors and placed them just above and below the original sensor. At 41 feet out the beam is about a foot around so any one of the three reflectors will complete the beam. With all three that gives enough reflection to counter the rain.
