it is cracked at the end. deff not abs plastic. and needs more protection for shipping I can fix mine with super glue. but someone else might get one that has been destroyed because the carriers don't care.

I only used the sluice once as it was hard to clean out the material. A lot of small material lodged in the sluice and it could not be cleaned like other plastic sluices. Also, it is a lot heavier than other plastic sluices and one of my aluminum sluices. I would not recommend it.

This is very brittle Lego-like plastic that is prone to cracks and chips. ABS has more memory (give/flexibility) and is a much higher quality and more durable type of plastic. Aside from the false advertising, the sluice box looks to be fairly well constructed, aside from a few gaps where the riffles meet the sidewalls. The riffles are attached and made from the same hard, brittle plastic as the rest of the sluice box which could pose challenged during a clean-up.

Bought as a clean-up and concentrator sluice. This thing works, but seems to jam with pebbles constantly, the hard plastic holds pebbles so you have to pry them out with a screwdriver after every use..

I've used this a few times on the river. First it does have some weight to it. At about 8 lbs, it gets heavy carrying. The carabiners and straps aren't that great of quality, as I have replaced both. But the good thing about weight is, it is easy to position in a stream. It doesn't float around, or readjusts with flow. It does seem to catch gold well, but is hard to clean out. Material also cleans out of it quickly.Overall, for the price, it's definitely a good sluice.

I was skeptical about ordering a plastic sluice over a metal one, but this one is very well made and we have actually come to prefer it over our metal one. It is all one piece and you don't have to worry about denting it or breaking it during transport or use. Short of backing your truck over it or taking a large hammer to it, I think it's indestructible!
