This is a very sturdy support. it does not open so you would need to place the rod through the holes first. I recommend this item. this

Perfect!! Make sure you take measurements though, of both your rod diameter and the desired and required distance between the rod and whatever top surface you intend to attach too (there are other similar products available with slightly different dimensions +/- a quarter inch or less).

I found an amazing antique wardrobe - that only had a spring-loaded rod. I put in the side cup-style brackets, but thought the rod needed more support in the center to keep it from bending. Added this and that rod is STURDY. Highly recommended for closets with long rods!

Living in a small space requires being industrious in ways to store necessities, such as blankets that aren't being used. I bought a 1" dowel to use and this works nicely for my needs.

Seem like good quality and fit a 1.25 inch dowl through! I recommend taking your time lining it up-- try hanginf the first then sticking the dowl theiugh both ends as you hang the second (if it's angled it could prevent the dowl from sliding through one). And you'll need to make sure it's straight and vertical on the wall first, then drill the holes accordingly. The anchors weren't great for my wall, but that's not a fault of the product.

I purchased this, along with the end brackets, for mounting a closet rod in an antique armoire.I had planned to install wall brackets only to support the closet rod at each end. But the closet rods typically sag in the middle due to the weight of the clothes. So I looked for a bracket that would support the rod in the middle, to eliminate the sag. This bracket was perfect for this application.Installing the center bracket was a bit tricky for this application. With the rod in place, you have to drive the screw into the top at an angle. In one case, I had to use one of those L shape angled screwdrivers to get one of the screws in.In another review, someone had said that the bracket said 1-1/4 but that a 1-1/4 inch rod didn't fit. I purchased a 1-1/4 in wood dowel/rod from Home Depot, and it fit right in with no problem.When it was said and done, the install with the brackets looked beautiful. Overall, the product quality seemed to be pretty good, and the product had a beautiful dark finish.

The description should read that this bracket is for a pole under 1.25 inches. It is also difficult to hang s8nce the 3 screw holes are under the bracket. You other need an L shaped screwdriver or change the screws out for ones you can tighten will an Allen wrench.
