I purchased this back plate to upgrade my dive rite traveler wing from the light flex back plate and pad to a stainless steel Backplate. The original dive rite back plate was perfect for traveling (e.g.,, it was lightweight) but I was always having to add much more weight to achieve buoyancy once I got in the water, much more weight than all of the divers that I was diving with. With the scuba pro stainless steel back plate, I am now diving in a three mil Shorty and a steel 100 tank with no extra weight. I am much more comfortable in the water.Swapping out the original light weight dive rite back plate with the scuba pro stainless steel model was a straightforward, trivial process. The stainless steel back plate is very comfortable, even without the backpack padding that was on the original configuration.

Ended up receiving a scuba pro back plate which either I don’t know they are the same brand or this is ad is not updated but very much happy with what I got seems to not have the sharp edges like other are stating

I have 20 dives with the backplate and it works as expected. However, it appears that with the lower cost, there are a few steps missed in the mfg process that may be expected in a more expensive plate. The one I'd like to point out is the fact that the edges have been left with a sharp(er) edge. I'm not in any way implying there is a safety issue, but more of an issue for wear. The thing that I noticed was that the harness webbing was developing a wear point. After posting for advice on how to keep this from happening, I was advised that in off-brand backplates, the edges are often left sharp. I've taken a small grinding tool to the edge and have smoothed it out. I will be working my way around outside edge, but as you can see, there would be sharp edges everywhere. I worry about all the points where the webbing goes through this thing and hope I don't have to take the harness off and grind down every corner.Just be careful and monitor it after a few dives.Otherwise, this is a plate of steel. It is not intended to do much more than act like a strong piece of steel.
