I bought this to stop my cats from scratching the new hall runner I bought. My cats are lovely girls and not given to distruction, but they did like scratching that new runner and as I couldn't always be in my hallway to point out to them the error of their ways, I couldn't stop them. I tried this spray and it smells quite nice to me, but sadly it seems my cats also don't find the scent off-putting--I set up a little camera and not one of my three cats seemed to even notice it, let alone stop scratching the runner, which was drenched in it! So it really didn't work for me.I did stop them from scratching the runner eventually. I bought an Ssscat spray thing from Amazon. The newest version. I set that down next to the runner, and left it there, and each of my three cats only encountered it twice before deciding that not scratching the runner was a good idea. It's had an added bonus of stopping them all from rushing to the front door whenever I open it, which helps keep them safe.So my advice? Don't buy this. Buy the Ssscat thing instea. Although it's a lot more expensive it's worth it because it works, doesn't distress your cats too much, and won't cause you a lot of stress either.

Unfortunately, this spray didn’t work as expected. Instead of deterring the cats, they seemed attracted to the smell and kept lingering around the chairs and sofas after it was applied.
