My isopods love this leaf litter. I like that it comes with multiple types of leaves and that they are mulched so more fit in the bag than if they were whole leaves. I took a good look in the bag and I didn't see any pests but I did still freeze it for a few days because it makes me feel better. I mixed some leaves into my frog and leopard geckos bioactive tanks and the clean up crew seem to love it. I am thinking about setting up a shrimp tank and I will definitely add some of these leaves to the tank if I do. I am really happy with this product and would purchase it again and recommend it to others.

Used in my Isopod tank as a more broken down layer between dirt and larger leaves, they seem to love it.

With two frogs and two toads in two different tanks, I go through a lot of sterilized dirt plus leaf litter and/or mulched leaves to keep my springtails and isopods healthy and repopulating. I was pleasantly surprised to see this bag of Scotty's Bugs mulched leaves pop up and happily grabbed it to try out.Specs:- the mulched leaves arrived mulched, but not excessively crushed, in a well-sealed 12 oz. brown kraft bag- the bag measures 12"H x 10"W x3"D (3" at the bottom and tapers as the bag goes upward) and has a window ->> so you can see what you're getting before opening - the mulch is advertised as sterilized, including on the bag's label. I still went ahead and sealed the entire bag inside another airtight plastic bag for 3.5 days - just to be safe and protect against potential hitchhikers (like mites). That's my status quo, however, you do what's best for your situation.I used the mulch in both my toads' terrarium and my frogs' terrarium by mixing most of it in with the existing dirt but also left a small pile in the corner of each. I lightly watered the mixture and added a sprinkle of Isopod & Superload food. In one night, they'd chewed through a noticeable amount of the mulched leaves, so it's clear they prefer this mix of 3 types of tress over my home-made single leaf type mixture.Overall, the quality of the Scotty's Bugs mulched leaves is better than I expected. There was very minimal non-leaf material, it was nearly dirt free, and the majority of the leaf stems were broken into smaller sizes. At just $15, it's reasonably priced and affordable enough that I'll definitely buy from them in the future. I'd call this a very good buy. Enjoy! 🙂Note: This is my honest opinion and I hope my experience with the item helps you in your decision.

The listing shows, and claims, that the leaf litter is "properly mulched," but mine most certainly was not. There were BIG pieces of leaves, with some leaves almost completely full.It was a decent amount of leaf litter, and was good for adding to multiple small terrariums with both arboreal snails and exotic millipedes in them.Price was much too high for what you are getting, however. I'm glad I gave it a try, for very basic leaf litter, it's exactly what you would expect which is why I gave it 4 stars (removed a star because mine was absolutely not 'properly mulched'). I would not consider getting it again nor recommending it at this price though (currently $14.99).
