Wer einen schon sehr lange Motorrad und/oder einen "Oldtimer" fährt wie ich (Yamaha SR 500, Bj. 86) hat bestimmt auch schon über den wohl bekannten klassischen Scottoiler zur Verlängerung der Kettenlebensdauer nachgedacht. Ich gebe zu, es war bisher nicht der Preis, sondern der Aufwand, der mich abgeschreckt hat. Die bisherigen Kettenöler waren unterdruckgesteuert, d.h sie mussten zwecks Inbetriebnahme an den Vergaser angeschlossen werden. Danach hat man dann in langwieriger Einstellarbeit versucht, die angemessene Dosierung herauszufinden. Hinzu kommt, dass man es bei modernen Motorrädern, mit Elektronik, Einspritzung und Kat, schon gar nicht mehr wagen würde, ein solches Gerät in den empfindlichen Regelkreislauf einzufügen.Mit diesem elektronischem Scottoiler ist nun alles viel einfacher. Er braucht lediglich eine Stromversorgung, dazu das Anbauen der Einzelteile, fertig. Kein Eingriff in empfindliche Vergaser, Elektronik etc. notwendig. Das Bedienteil habe ich nur provisorisch mit Kabelbindern am Lenker befestigt. Wenn die Einstellung des Ölintervalls einigermaßen zufriedenstellend ist, verschwindet das Teil unter dem Seitendeckel, ist bei Bedarf jederzeit zugänglich und stört nicht mehr die schöne Optik des Klassikers.Zur Funktion: Jeder kettengetriebene Motorradfahrer weiß eigentlich, dass die notwendige Pflege der Kette immer auch eine (meist dreckige) Verlustschmierung ist. Auch das am besten haftende Kettenspray findet seinen Weg auf Streben und Hinterrad, in die Umwelt und an die Stiefel. Es klebt dort umso fester und die Kette wird im Lauf der Zeit immer steifer. Zudem zieht der zähklebrige Ölfilm den Schmutz geradezu magisch an, was dann sogar den Verschleiß noch erhöht. Vom unerfreulichen, aufwändigem Reinigen einer derart verklebten Kette ganz zu schweigen.Mit dem Scottoiler erhalten die Kettenglieder nun genau das Maß an Schmierung, dass sie brauchen. Innerlich bei modernen X-Ring-Ketten sowieso dauergefettet, geht es nur ja eigentlich "nur" noch um die Versorgung der äußeren Kettenrollen. Hier ist es dann auch konsequent, ein biologisch abbaubares Öl zu verwenden. Die Leistungsfähigkeit wird ja durch regelmäßiges Nachölen sichergestellt, ich bin mir sicher, dass umweltschädlichere Öl-Alternativen hier keine Verbesserung bringen.Das hier verwendete Kettenöl verklebt NICHT Kette, Streben, Hinterrad, sammelt keine Schmutzkrusten, erhöht nicht den Rollwiderstand der Kette und lässt sich im Rahmen einer Reinigung viel leichter entfernen.Einmal montiert und eingestellt ist die sicher nicht ganz unerhebliche Anschaffung im besten Sinne ganz schnell vergessen, das regelmäßige und eigentlich falsche Nachsprühen mit klebrigem Kettenspray vor dem Sonntagsausflug gehört endlich der Vergangenheit an. Mit der Qualität heutiger Kettensätze sind Laufleistungen von weit über 30.000 km sicher kein Problem mehr, was bei der üblichen jährlichen Durchschnittsfahrleistung 10 Jahre und mehr bedeuten kann.Anregung an den Hersteller: Eine Variante für Fahrräder oder wenigstens E-Bikes würde sich wahrscheinlich glänzend verkaufen, in dieses Zweiradhobby fließt ja heutzutage wahrscheinlich deutlich mehr Geld als ins Motorradhobby.

I had one of the earlier versions of this and jumped at the chance to try this newer one. It's amazing to have an indicator of how much oil is in the reservoir and the oiling rate setting on a display. I combined this with their optional "scorpion" dual nozzle on my new BMW GS. Installation was really simple, with my only caveat being that you really need to double and triple check your installation to make sure nothing will move once attached and that everything is tucked away where it can't catch on anything else- especially when the suspension moves, as some bikes have a long travel.Even with the single nozzle applicator, this will keep your chain properly maintained to the point where you can rely on it. Most people say that the single nozzle will get both sides of your chain lubricated, but the optional dual is only $25 so I opted for that to be completely sure. The main benefit is that you can now take a long trip and not have to plan on performing maintenance on the trip- the chain will be taken care of and only require inspections. You can set the amount of oiling, and you will have an indicator showing the amount of oil onboard- so for long treks, take a refill bottle with you. If you notice that you may be running low, you can reduce the oil consumption rate to prolong until you can get a refill.The quality is fantastic- this company has been making chain oilers for a long time and are well known by most people (especially adventure bike folks) in the motorcycle hobby. This new eSystem is a new addition to a long line of these type of systems, adding more convenience and technology to a proven concept.This is their top-end version, and it's been awesome so far- worth every penny. If you take road trips or ride your bike in all weather, you NEED this- but if you're more recreational in your riding with just local rides etc. you WANT this.100% recommend and will order another one soon as I have a new GS Trophy coming in next month.

This system fit the bike very well. I mounted the dispenser in the center of a chain guide. This way it lubes the middle of the chain and is locked in place. The reservoir is located on the right side of the frame rail just under the plastics. This will make chain maintenance much easier.
