I had another model of Scotch laminator, but it wore out in 2 years of making classroom materials, so I bought this one. This one is not nearly as efficient as my previous Scotch laminator. This one doesn't get hot enough and leaves bubbles on my work and I have to send it back through two or three times. Sometimes more. I don't like it at all. Unfortunately, I am afraid I waited to long to return it, or I would.

I use this at home to seal small projects and artwork from my kids. It works well for this. Having the convenience of a laminator at hand you find more and more uses for it.

As expected from Scotch 3M the laminator is ergonomically designed with a carry handle, easy to see and use operating buttons on the top left side (on/off, 3 mil, 5 mil and a ready light). The superior industrial design allows for quick set up (plug it in and lay it down on a flat stable surface), press the on/off button and wait 60 seconds until the blue ready light goes on. The unit default starts with the 3 mil pouch selected and you will need to press the 5 mil button if you are using the thicker 5 mil pouch material. The 3 mil 11.5 inch pouch took about 50 seconds to complete the sealing process so it was pretty quick overall. The alignment is totally visual with no guides so you will need to eyeball it pretty carefully to start the feed to get a good even seal. The results come out perfectly sealed on thin 24 lb.letter stock and I haven't tried thicker construction paper but I suspect it will be the same or, at worst, require a second pass. Overall the unit is beautifully designed for its intended purpose and very easy to use. It is, however, somewhat heavy at almost 4 lbs.and big at 19 in. long, 4.5 inches deep and 3.5 inches high so it is probably not going to sit on your desk unless you have a huge desk without tons of files on it like mine does. I like this unit a lot.

Worked right out of the box like a dream. It's important for keepsakes. It's a little pricey though. But unlike the other one I purchased for half the price, it works.

This laminator works well. From watching the video, I thought that there was a tray for this laminator but it doesn't come with one. I was hoping there would be a tray so smaller cut out pieces of paper do not slide around when using the laminator. Now that I watched the video more closely, I realized that the laminator with the tray is a different laminator than the product being sold.

This laminator was off the market for a while. I am so happy that they have modified the design and it is available again. It will laminate 11x17 and 8.5x11 sheets. Great value and is a very useful machine. I have used my older model for years. Be sure to unplug after using it.
