This tape is thick & strong. Holds many different things. I have the big dispenser but this one is very convenient to leave in different rooms. Very easy to tear off.

The fact that it’s a Scotch brand product, you know it’s gonna be reliable, sturdy (if necessary) easy to work with, pliable, clear enough in case you need to see what’s underneath on your box/elephant/200’ yacht-WAIT! I used to keep a roll of packing tape without a dispenser, in a kitchen drawer for all to use. Why? Because a big dispenser doesn't fit in the drawer and mostly because i'm cheap, and being cheap i would put up with all of the annoying little things that come with keeping an open roll of tape in a drawer. Like the roll being returned to the drawer with hanging tape at the end that stuck to all the pencils and pens, or having dust, pet hair you name it, stuck to the sides of the roll once returned, or not being able to find where the tape left off so scratching my nails all around the circumference of the roll to find that magic starting but once found... when i did start puling my cheap tape, it would break. Well... not anymore... i got smart cheap! This heavy duty tape is thicker than the tape i usually buy, the adhesive is stronger as well which was a nice surprise and actually makes packing easier. The kikker here is the dispenser, it's plastic, easy to figure out how to use, it holds the spot where you left off and it fits fine in the kitchen drawer, and when snugly placed in that kitched drawer it does not frustrate me with the usual problems. When purchasing a few at a time i also found the overall quanlity and ease of use made my cheap side feel that this product is well worth the price.

This is the original Scotch Heavy Duty Packaging Tape with a smaller plastic red dispenser. This roll of tape is a smaller sized roll and comes with the dispenser. For me, it works great for In the office, when you may not have much room for a big roll of tape and that big metal dispenser that we see in the post office or shipping stores.I don't like that you have to buy this smaller tape and dispenser together and that the smaller tapes are not for purchase by themselves, as it seems wasteful to through away the dispenser when the 800 inches roll is done. The dispenser has a metal cutting edge on it that is not covered in any way. I would not let a child work with this packing tape dispenser as I can see a child cutting herself with this metal cutting strip.Also, the tape is marked "heavy duty," and the tape is good packaging tape and clearly does the job, but there really is nothing extra heavy duty about the tape. There are not extra strapping strips in the tape.For us, this works, but if you are someone that needs to use packaging tape every day, then get the larger dispenser and tape rolls are for you. But for the occasionally packaging taping, this will work just fine.
