  • Nikon SC-29 TTL Off-Camera Shoe Cord with AF Assist - Coiled

Product Description

Product description Nikon SC-29 Dedicated TTL Coiled Sync Extension Cord New in Box New in the box! Weight Model Number 7466 Amazon.com The Nikon SC-29 Off Camera AF TTL Cord easily mounts to the camera's hot shoe and enables an attached SB-800 flash to accurately auto focus in low light when placed on a flash bracket. Great for beautiful shadowless lighting. The cord uses a new AF Illuminator at the mounting point that overrides the SB-800's AF Illuminator. This completely eliminates any possibility of autofocus discrepancies when using the SB-800 off camera. The SC-29 TTL cord with the SB-800 quick recycling battery pack can also be used as an off camera master controller in a multi-flash set-up.

Excellent product. When I graduate to a more a more advanced flash it will live up to its full potential in that the flash I have (the Nikon SB-500) doesn’t make use of the auto focus lamp on the SC-29. Otherwise, this has really allowed us to try different lighting strategies. Still very much a beginner, but already appreciate this accessory a great deal.

Good quality. But the fact that it contains lead got me a bit concerned! It serves the purpose well...

Ottima manifattura. Lo uso con Nikon D810 e SB910..

I was put off by the cost of this at first. Really, that much money for a cord to extend my hot shoe? I decided I needed it and felt the positive reviews on this had to account for something. It is a surprisingly substantial device made out of high quality components. It looks pretty serious and I'm confident that it will last a long time. I've used it shooting three times. The coil doesn't offer too much resistance, the cord is long enough without being too long, and it works easily and flawlessly. I have no doubt that this will survive in the camera bag for years with constant use and it looks like it may fair well with the occasional abuse as well.I think it undoubtedly opens up several possibilities for front-fill-off-camera-flash. I am very happy with the purchase. Received on time in good packaging. - 1 star for it should come with some sort of pouch / satchel / bag for the price. I will be putting it an old lens pouch to keep the AF Illuminator from being scratched.

This sync cable does exactly what it's supposed to. Excellent quality...looks like it will last a long time. Fits well, works well. It is nice to have AF assist on your hot shoe when the flash is remote or oriented in such a way that it will not help with it's own assist lamps. Would give it 4 1/2 stars because it's pretty expensive for what it is, but most Nikon accessories are more expensive than they should be or need to be. However, quality is never an issue if you buy genuine Nikon - it's as good as it gets. 5 stars, not 4, simply because it is a solid performer.

There is no substitute for genuine Nikon products (perhaps barring the Nikon GPS unit). This cord is no exception. I use it with a Nikon D300s and either an SB-900 or SB-700, usually in an event photography setup involving a bracket. The necessity of the cord is really not in dispute with most people. Rather, whether a cheaper third-party substitute would perform equally as well. In nearly every experience in which I did choose a cheaper alternative to Nikon, I was usually dissapointed in either quality or durability.Durability is simply incredible as is features and compatibility. It provides a little over arms reach for obtaining unique lighting angles and very quickly attaches to any shoe on a bracket. If you plan on going further than arms reach, you will enter the world of wireless anyway, either through the CLS or Pocket Wizards. There is no PC connection however. Also, a switch on the front of the unit gives you a choice of AF illum in the flash or hot shoe. This is a must have item for photogs going off camera with lighting.

Basically, this cord gets an attached flash from behind the lens to greatly reduce glare and increase the shading of the subject. Doing so provides greater visual relief by casting subtle shadows. What it does not do, however, is allow one to use commander mode for multiple wireless flashes unless the attached flash also has a commander mode built in already, i.e. SB-900. I do not understand why Nikon does not provide better descriptions of it's attachments by promoting the benefits instead of a list of technical features. It's as if a clock were described as "an analog display consisting of multiple needle pointers that rotate in a ratio of 60 to 1 so that the angle of the pointers relative to the vertical axis indicates the precise number of cycles of an internal driving device that is synchronized with the rotation of the earth."

I use a D300 and SB-800. This cable allows me to use off camera flash easier and quicker than setting up commander mode on the built-in flash. The cable is lengthy, but coiled tight so it isn't in the way.Since I rarely use my flash on camera - this cable is almost a necessity for me - and one I should have bought much sooner.

Is as good as i expected. Solid build quality, it works fine. There were a few things i did not know about this before i bought it, maybe other people could use this info as well1)Gives you about arms reach distance between camera and flash, can probably be uncoiled with heat, but dont expect to put it more than 3 feet before it starts pulling on the stands. Perfect if you want to just hold it in your hand and get different light effects.2) Has a switch on the front that either allows the AF illuminator in the flash or the termial on the hot shoe of the camera. One or the other. Cant use both. I doubt anyone would need both though.3) No PC connection. I read that the SC-28 has one though4) it does have the shoe locks.5) Worth every penny.
