Fit my 1998 Outback perfectly. The roll pins are pretty difficult to get lined up because there only go on one way or else the splines don't match the roll pin hole. Other than that, I saved big on this part!

Fits right, comes with axle nut and roll pin. Boot is high quality and seems to hold up fine. Excellent price for a new axle and no cores to mess with.

New looking axle, unfortunately they claim consolidated line to work with ABS and non ABS applications but the axle I received is NOT for ABS which my car has. I now have to see if I can transfer the tone ring from the old axle to the new one or else I have to return the axle.

Installed this CV axel. Looked good. But after driving on it for some time, I noticed a major issue. After a long drive, I have issues with turning. Upon turning, I get a grinding noise and larger resistance on forward movement. Sometimes, after a long drive, I let it sit, and upon starting up and turning out of my driveway, the resistance is so bad it sometimes stalls my car. (A manual.) This is not a good CV axle. Now I have to look at options locally to fix the issue.Edit: Replaced the cv axle with a new one. This one was much shorter. (around an inch and a half) from the local branded (Carquest) cv axle I had. The new cv axle obtained locally also had dust guards and both ends and installed easily. After the replacement, I have not had a turning issue since. There seemed to be a burr or the like on the surtrack one received. I could feel it as I rotated it in my hands. It was at the transmission side joint. Threw it into the trash. Only had it installed for about a month.

Ok, I ordered this through Amazon Warehouse deals and got what I thought was a great deal. After around hour trying to install the CV axle onto the stub shaft I gave up. The roll pin would not cleanly go through the CV axle. I ended up buying one from a local parts house and that one installed in 5 minutes flat.If you have a good OEM CV axle I would consider replacing the boot first. Second option, I would spend some cash on a quality replacement.-I got a defective unit.-It cost me a very fustrating hour under the car-Metal guard for the wheel bearing seal needs to be swapped over, which is a minus-Would be hard to claim a warranty since you would have to send it in.EDIT: I've included some pictures showing the metal guard that needs to be swapped over, the damaged roll pin and the inner CV joints. I would still buy one locally and carefully inspect the unit to make sure they are identical.

It fits well into my legacy 96 and eliminates the low rpm vibration due to the old and worn out axle. Amazon customer service was responsive to my concern at the beginning about fitment. Now I look forward to seeing how long this will last.

It would be helpful to say it fits both the Right and Left Front positions on a 97 Legacy according to the Sur Track Web Site as NOTHING is said in the ad about where it goes.
