The barrel adjuster didn’t even have threads. There weren’t any nuts either on my shifter it’s literally useless but the stand and everything was fine though. The roller doesn’t roll smooth either I’m not sure what I was expecting there but the lowest resistance setting stops you in a matter of seconds or less. This 1 star review however is for the fact that I received a brand new (presumably) item with wrong/missing parts. If you’ve got gears on your bike though, that works fine too. Honestly just leave the machine resistance on “medium” and adjust your gears as you ride from there.

I am a competitive and recreational cyclist, have used my Minoura MagTurbo trainer for winter indoor training for over 20 years, it still works great. Wanted to get a new trainer, so purchased this one. It was a huge disappointment. Required assembly, the instructions were terrible, the parts are cheap, and there is almost no resistance, certainly no simulating a climb. I will buy a new Minoura, meanwhile return to my old Minoura that works fine, far better than this Saris.

I used it many times to work indoor. I don’t remember using my bike outdoor after 😅No issues but it might be noisy for some people. I don’t mind it. Seller doubled the price after I bought it or else it would have been really good and fair price.

Assembles fairly quickly; functions as advertised. A tiny bit expensive but was worth it given my setup.

The assembly instructions are not decipherable. I still can not figure out how to assembly the resistance controller.

bought this for my husband for christmas. He was missing biking in these cold months. He LOVES this. He uses it every day. It's sturdy, well made and a WAY cheaper alterntive to buying a recumbent or standing bike. Worth every penny.

I have mixed feelings about this SARIS trainer. I had the older CycleOps trainer. SARIS is lighter than the older, which is a positive thing, however, when I stand up to pedal it shakes and feels less sturdy. The CycleOps was made from heavier steel which may explain the difference. This model is much quieter with a slight "whirring" sound that you'd expect from a magnetic. There is an annoying vibration that kicks in when pedaling >50 rpm or so. It's like driving over rumble strips. I've tried adjusting the tension w/o any effect so far. I'll keep trying different things to get rid of this annoyance. And finally, speaking of tension, save your money and use your gears to increase/decrease resistance. My trainer bike (a 40-year-old Bianchi) had issues shifting so I thought I'd get the magnetic model with adjustable tension. I figured in the long run the adjustable tension would be worth the added cost. I was wrong. After adjusting and re-adjusting the tension many MANY times I decided to get my old bike tuned at the local bike shop and have ditched the tension that came with the trainer. All in all it's a decent product but it's not the old CycleOps.

This is an excellent bike trainer: easy to assemble, rugged, and runs smooth and quiet. I was shopping for an American-made unit, and this one did not disappoint. I do recommend going with the New Mag+ even if you don't plan to use the shifter. The roller on the New Mag+ is metal while the roller on the New Mag is plastic, which considering its function, can't be expected to last long, especially under intensive-use.

The trainer is well built and solidly made. The assembly was simple with the included instructions. The cable adjustments for the resistance was a bit confusing but if followed the adjuster worked as designed. Once assembled my road bike with 700 tires fit well and it was a stable riding platform. The one complain I have is that the resistance adjustment offers very little resistance if any at all. I contacted the manufacture and was told that the function of the magnetic resistance would not supply the level of resistance I was looking for and would need to get the resistance through my bike gearing. They recommended that I switch to one of the fluid trainers. I have used other manufactures trainers that offer a real resistance with an adjustable magnetic system. I was looking for a trainer that I could use in lieu of a smart trainer by making resistance adjustments manually. I returned the unit and purchased a smart wheel on trainer.
