Package arrived looking like it was kicked here from China. The tool itself seems fine but the instructions are minimal at best. The unit itself seems to function as promised.

The salinity readings of this unit are extremely inaccurate. When professional readings indicate 3,800ppm, this unit measured 2,000ppm. This variance is problematic with a salt-water pool as it suggests that you need to add salt when in fact the pool already has too much salt. I suggest searching for a more accurate meter.

Pros:Accurate salt reading.Includes PH calibration packets.Cons:The PH reading is not accurate. Reads 8.4 when the water is actually 6.9. Will not calibrate or perform PH reset as per the instructions in the manual.Batteries died after two tests. It came with an extra set of batteries, which was nice.There is a small white particle inside the lcd screen which moves around and is annoying.Since I bought it months before I actually used it, I am unable to return it.It seems to work for many people, maybe I got a dud. I would advise not buying it until you plan to use it in order to be able to return if you get a defective one like I did.

Been using this tester for a year now. Never had to clean it even though it comes with a brush. Works great and lights up between 2800- 3200 ppm salt telling you you’re within range. and also let you know the temperature of the water, which is great.

My local pool store readings have a wide range, sometimes high, sometimes low. I can go to the store and they tell me I need 120lbs of salt. The next week it will say I’m on the high side and I never added salt. This meter is very consistent and the only one I trust. A must for salt pool owners.

The unit was not initially working until i removed and reinstalled the batteries, since then the tester has been working well. Seems to give an accurate reading.

I got this to cross check the salt reading on my pool. More as a quick way to cross check the salt reading on my Jandy Aquapure Salt Water Chlorinator sensor. It seems to be roughly accurate. Reality - the better test is to use the Taylor K-1766 titration. But the reagents for that are expensive. So I plan to use this hand held meter as a quick cross check, but not as the defacto final number.
