Does sharpen skates well, in between sessions.

実は、磨いてからスケートに出かけたのですが、スケート場が雪で今シーズン閉鎖してしまい、来年楽しみにしています。本格的に磨けるにもかかわらず値段は手ごろで感心しました。

My new skates arrived with uneven edges, yet when I was feeling doomed (coz there isn't a pro shop nearby), This sharpener actually did its work and balanced the edges out thanks to the parallel screw system.For those who may experience not up to par quality, feel free to screw out the screw all the way and reassemble it with both screws screwed back in AT THE SAME TIME to ensure your sharpening is well balanced. Overall, great performance with little material scrapped of my blade per sharpening.Also, just a reminder: Your skates ARE NOT suppose to be able to cut your fingers. You should just feel a Little Bite and a Slight Dip in your fingers when you run them through your blade slowly.

Worked better then I ever imagined, Very pleased with this product and it’s always in my hockey bag to show off to my other coaches and players..

We have an outdoor rink in the park which is pretty rough... There are no sharpening shops or arenas open during covid lock down in my parts so these have managed to fill the gap. Couple of swipes on each blade and the finger nail test is passing. They don't replace a good grinder sharpening but will provide a good enough blade for a hack like me!

Value for money.

I used to have a similar sharpener which was a stone that had the proper radius enclosed in an aluminum housing. Don't see they're made any more.Ordered this because it was similar. Returned to Amazon as defective. One side of the adjuster wouldn't turn (cross threaded?). No one tested it (I.e. no quality control). After looking at it, the sandpaper wrapped on a cardboard tube is way too cheap of material for a skate tool. Can't see it lasting more than a season. I went to their web site to price replacement tubes. No real information and an antique site.

I opened the delivery box to find the skate mate device in a clear package as seen in my picture. No markings other than a barcode. No instructions. I figured "no big deal" because i had a similar sharpening tool growing up. Figured out how to loosen the tool to allow a skate blade to fit into it and begin to work on my son's skate. I should've believed the other reviewer. It completely took any existing edge off the skate and now it is more dull than before.I like the idea of the adjustable slide to allow you to use it on blades of varying width, but at a minimum it needs to keep whatever edge was existing there.

Meine Schlittschuhe (Größe 42) lagen nun schon Jahre im Schrank.Zum einen wegen der dafür ungünstig warmen Winter.Andererseits wußte ich, daß damit Laufen keinen Spaß mehr bringt.Ich hatte in Erinnerung, daß ich mich nicht mehr gut abstoßen konnteund damit ständig ausglitt.Die Kufen unter der Lupe betrachtet, ist der Hohlschliff zwar gleichmäßig vorhanden,doch der Seitengrat fehlt bzw. ist weitgehend abgeschliffen.Dieser ist aber für die Seitenstabilität und das Abstoßen unbedingt erforderlich.Nun lockt hier auf allen Seen das Eis und ich wollte es mit diesem Skatemate versuchen.Die Verarbeitung ist gut, kein Grat, durchgehende Schweißpunkte.Die durchdachte Konstruktion besteht aus zwei Aluminiumwinkeln und einer Kunststoffrolle.Diese sind mit Schleifpapier beklebt und werden von zwei Rändelschraubenüber Gewindestifte zusammengehalten. Ich denke nach Verschleiß des Sandpapiersdürfte es nicht schwer sein, dieses zu ersetzten und mittels Spezialkleber wieder zu fixieren.Die Rolle läßt sich leicht herausnehmenRollendurchmesser mit Schleifpapier 14,3mm, entspricht einem Radius von 7,15Die Handhabung ist sehr einfach: Beide Rändelschrauben soweit aufdrehen,bis sich das Schleifgerät auf die Kufe aufstecken läßt.Nun werden die Rändelschrauben soweit zugedreht, bis man den Skatmate gerade nochauf der Kufe bewegen kann. Er sollte in keine Richtung Spiel haben.Jetzt wird der SkateMate unter Druck auf der Kufe von ganz vorne bis ganz hinten durchgeschoben.Zurückgezogen wird ohne Druck. Nach ca. 5 Durchgängen kann man deutlich einen Gratan den Kanten der Kufen fühlen. Nicht wie bei einem Messer, aber dennoch fühlbar.Ich habe das bei beiden Schlittschuhen durchgeführt und bin nachmittags zum See gefahren.Und tatsächlich sind die Laufeigenschaften wieder hervorragend.Kein Ausgleiten oder Wegrutschen mehr, wofür die abgeschliffenen Hohlkanten verantwortlich waren.Ich bin sehr zufrieden und ca. 3 Stunden auf dem See gelaufen.Die erste Stunde Eingewöhnung war für die Füße ziemlich schmerzhaft.... kennen wir ja.Das Gerät ist zwar relativ teuer, erfüllt aber unbedingt seinen Zweck.Ein sauberer, gerader Hohlschliff sollte bereits vorhanden sein.Denn den bekommt man damit nicht hin.Für das Nacharbeiten der Kufen von Schlittschuhen sehr empfehlenswert.
