Paid extra for non toy one in hopes of using it the description described it was a genuine magnifying lense . But its not its a toy. Buy the cheap ones and save the extra time and money acquiring what is described as real only to be out of pocket and disappointed

This spyglass is technically functional and looks really cool, but it breaks if you look at it too hard. The first one they sent me was broken on arrival and needed to be replaced. The second arrived functional but one of the inner lenses broke free the first time I took it out of the house (nothing even struck it, it just came home with the lens rattling around inside). It's after the refund period so now I'm just stuck with a broken prop. It looks cool but it's not worth the money.

This is a beautiful brass telescope. I was surprised by the weight of the box when it arrived. It is beautifully presented. It looks like an antique. It comes in a gorgeous wood box. The spy glass pulls out and you can see through it. There are instructions included on how to adjust the eye piece. They did a wonderful job designing this spyglass. It looks and feels like an old ship spyglass. This would like lovely on a shelf or table. I got it for my mother who has trouble seeing things. She is always looking out the window and asks me “what is that”. This allows her to see for herself. This would be a wonderful gift for a nautical lover. The wood box and the spyglass are done with quality workmanship. I am glad I picked up this spyglass. It is such a unique item.

About five years ago i was introduced to the Patrick O'Brian; Aubrey/Maturn series. This introduced me to seafaring life which i never realized i was into. The twenty volume series was so detailed i literally felt like i jumped into a time machine and spent a great deal of time in the Napoleonic war era. With this awesome looking fold out telescope i now have a nice prop to display in my bookshelf right in front of the twenty volume series along with a neat encyclopedia of nautical terms as well. I am giving this a five star rating because i think it is a fully realized item in relation to what the product page is claiming.The travel case, and also a part of the whole as a work of art, is great. I like how there is a classic drawing of the light/optical physics diagram that i remember from intro to light physics in college. I love the outer part of the box as well with the London company engraving matching the British theme of my O'Brian series.The fold out brass telescope is sweet looking and is guaranteed to impress anyone who is into history, most likely everyone else. I showed this to a younger person who was not a history buff like myself, and that person was interested in it, because of its antique appearance. Movie people can appreciate this also because the fold out style of telescope is in many classics- even the film version of a O'Brian fusion of like four of the books - Master and Commander. I think the main character uses one in and early scene- like the second or third.To summarize, i am super happy with this and recommend it for naval history people as well as a great gift idea for a book shelf, naval trinket collection or a desk.
