Humidity won't stay at a constant percent. This is the worst one I've used related to humidity. Temp stays at the correct temp but humidity will not regardless what I do.I may end up returning if hatch rate is super low because I spent a fortune on special breed of chicks to hatch. Wouldn't have been an issue if my older incubator didn't finally die. Will not order this one again that's for sure.

Heater/thermostat isn't accurate. Set the unit to 100.5° and it only reads 94° according to my secondary thermostat. I can't afford to lose more fertile eggs with a substandard incubator. I didn't add water, but the humidity on the unit reads 75%. I know better. I live in a very dry state. My house humidity reads 28% . This brand doesn't perform well, the unit isn't rotating the eggs.I have had another model of the brand and it was also a bomb. Save your money and skip this entirely.

Overall the incubator is good for someone on a budget. I've hatched several quail in it. Just be warned that this will not work for dry hatching, as an alarm goes off when it goes below 40% humidity. If this isn't an issue for you, then this product should work well. Just as a tip, for adding water to the reservoir during incubation, use the spray bottle that comes with the kit. A little bit goes a long way. If you just pour water in there, your humidity will be too high. Customer support is also good.

I hatched all 11 (out of 18) viable eggs in this and it was easy and reliable. I’d give it 5 stars except that it would have been too crowded for 18 chicks (you don’t want to open it till everyone’s hatched for the day) and it’s a b**** to clean afterward. Lots of tiny spaces to clean out with q tips.

This is my first time hatching chicks and this incubator is so easy to use! I put 8 eggs in, one was candled and determined unfertilized and so far I have 4/7 of the remaining eggs that have hatched. As I’m writing this the remaining 3 are trying to hatch so if they are successful then this will be a 100% hatch rate for this round. It has a display that has temperature, humidity, day countdown, and turning countdown and the instruction manual is easy to follow. Definitely would recommend this.

If you're just starting out and decided to incubate eggs in small batches this little incubator isn't half bad.I feel the need to pass on some info to beginners who may be comparing incubators, things I didn't know for my first owned incubator and sadly had to learn the hard way and after some research.I'm sure if you're here you've already done research. But I wanted to add some info should you be comparing incubators.1. Humidity isn't about the amount of water you throw in an incubator but about the amount of surface water being evaporated. You can put a bowl in an incubator full of water and keep perfect humidity levels as long as the bowl is the right size for the incubator you have. This incubator has an a and b compartment. A for the first part of incubation. B for lockdown and hatch period. You would think this would come with all incubators. No. No it doesn't. My first incubator I struggled with keeping proper humidity levels and lost alot of chicks. All it had was a hole to throw in water no compartments to fill based on surface amount.Humidity is very important for the hatching process of eggs. However I have heard of dry hatching, I've never tried it so have no info on that.Your humidity to high: your chicks will drown when they go to hatch because the air pocket that forms in the egg will fill with excess water.Your humidity to low: and the egg membrane shrink wraps the chicks making it impossible for them to move and hatch ultimately dieing.2. The vent on the incubator is also important. It helps during those spikes of increased humidity or if you accidentally overflowed compartment a. It also good during the hatching portion because the humidity levels will spike with each hatch, mine went well into the 90s, and having that vent helped lower it without risking opening the incubator.3. The egg rotator is probably the only downfall to this incubator. It works however any large chicken eggs do not rotate properly. And I had to move my eggs around to insure all would rotate.I do love the fact this incubator rotates eggs on the side. It's more natural position for the eggs to be in. My first incubator was upright and didn't detach to allow me to lay my eggs sideways during the hatch period. My other problem, which I hope they find a solution to, is that you need to take the rotator out during the hatch process. I'd love an auto turn off or maybe a different base in the incubator because when you take the rotator away the eggs roll, and as the base doesn't have much of a wall, I've almost had eggs roll out onto the floor....4. The base is easy to clean! My other incubator had screws and just overall hard to clean. This incubator kept it in mind that hatching chicks gets dirty, smelly, and needs a proper cleaning.5. Great instructions. The instructions cover everything you need to know for taking care of your chicks and your incubator. One thing I wish they had in the items description is thermometer pairing. I took a picture (this incubator pairs with the type c. Kind) It's good to have an extra thermostat should the one on the incubator fail while incubation. It may just well save your batch of chicks.Past that 15 healthy chicks! The other 3 each had q different reason for the loss. One infertile, one double yoked which was cool to see and sad to realize, last was properly the only one lost to the fact the incubator doesn't rotate eggs equally.
