NOTE: PLEASE CHECK YOUR THREADS TYPE!

  • NH / NST: The most common thread type in use by fire departments today is NST or National Standard Thread. NST also goes by the initials NH or National Hose. It can even be referred to as NHT or National Hose Thread. But NST or NH is more common these days. NH = NST.
  • NPSH: National Pipe Straight Hose (NPSH) or Iron Pipe Thread (IPT) has the same threads per inch (TPI) as National Pipe Tapered (NPT) but the thread does not taper. NPSH is a straight thread and seals by a gasket in the female coupling which allows for a swivel, just like NH / NST, which make both ideal for hose couplings. Warning - It will NOT thread into a female NPT pipe. For example, a male NPSH coupling will NOT thread into a female metal or pvc pipe.
  • NPT: National Pipe Tapered is common in plumbing and some industrial uses. Sometimes referred to as pipe thread because PVC pipe and schedule 40 pipe are typically threaded in NPT. As its name implies this is a tapered thread so that the outside diameter of the male (ODM) gets smaller towards the end of the fitting and the inside diameter of the female narrows with depth. As the two fittings are threaded together the opposite tapers force thread friction and makes the seal without the use of a gasket.

It works fine but doesn’t fan out as good as plastic ones but works great overall. Built solid. We are using to wet softball field

We live about 30 miles from the nearest fire response. I put this together with an old chemical tote (water supply), a water trash pump, and some hose to have a makeshift fire protection system. Move the whole rig around on the forks of my Deere 5065E. Handy to have on hand with area grassfires during the summer months, or for coverage when burning brush. Easy to find YouTube videos on how to put one of these systems together. Cheap insurance...

This brass nozzle is a fine piece of work and produces a nice straight stream which travels a good distance and reaches well over the top of my two-story house.Initially, I was frustrated by my inability to get it to make a fine spray as displayed in the marketing photo. This turned out to be my user error, as my expectations of how it should work and how it was designed to work were different. From the closed position, as you open the nozzle the stream goes from a strong, straight column, to a high-volume stream, and then to an adjustable spray. I had, incorrectly, expected the order to be the reverse.Support personnel were very kind and patient in our email correspondence and I was happy to discover that this nozzle will work perfectly with my modest home wildfire defense system. Thanks to all!
