A rod end bearing, also known as a Heim joint, is a mechanical articulating joint. Such joints are used on the ends of control rods, steering links, tie rods, or anywhere a precision articulating joint is required, and where a clevis end. The advantage is that the ball insert permits the rod or bolt passing through it to be misaligned to a limited degree.

This package contains 4 individually plastic wrapped end rod bearings. The two end rod bearings that were in the clean clear wrapped bags are perfect. The other two end rod bearings that has rust stain inside the plastic wrapped bags are binding.

Rod End Bearings are also known as rose joints or Heim joints.These are well made: the thread is smooth, allowing the nut to screw on / off without catching or risking being cross-threaded. Likewise, the bore is clean and smooth, allowing rods and axles to pass through without any undue resistance.The bearing rotates without any jarring, regardless of the direction of rotation. Lubrication is excellent, without being excessive, so no oily coating over the product.Each of the items arrived sealed in its own packet within a plastic pouch, although the nuts were loose.Good product at an attractive price.

I got these rose joints as I occasionally use them as linkages in small engineering/model making projects. The construction is good and although the zinc plating isn’t really vital for my applications, the added corrosion resistance always helps. Quality is more than adequate my small projects, and the price reflects good value for four rose joints.
