This is well made, but the diameter should be made slightly larger than 4.0 inch's so that it scrubs the inside of the duct with some wall friction. It actually fits a little loose in the pipe. I bought it to clean our dryer duct which is 4 inch galvanized steel. The 1/4-20 screw thread on the end of the brush requires you to buy the Rutland extension rods. I made my own adapter with a 1/4 inch pipe plug and pipe coupler which allowed me to use Rutland extension rods with 1/4" pipe thread ends, which I already owned, for cleaning our wood burner flue pipe. Not a big deal if you have the drill bit and taps in your toolbox. They should offer an adapter for people that already have the larger extension rods.

I liked the flexibility. When you use this you know it is a dirty job you are in for, but it is a good tool.

I'm using this to clean out my 4" dryer vent line, that is about 30 feet long.I began by using a shop vac to suck a small rope through the pipe (tie a thin plastic shopping bag on the end of the rope and let the suction pull it through the pipe) since I have a removable cleanout close to the dryer and the soffit vent is easy to remove.I used a 1/4-20 coupler nut to attach a small 1/4" eyebolt to the threaded end of the brush. I then tied another length of rope to both the brush eyebolt and the rope inside the pipe, and then pulled it through the dryer vent pipe while using the shop vac to suck up all the lint. This worked very well and got a surprising amount of lint out of the pipe. I only made one pass through the pipe and when done, I left the 2nd rope in the pipe for next time. In the days following, a lot more lint come out and blocked the soffit vent, so next time I'll pull the brush back through the pipe a couple of times to get it all out... My vent line has 2 90's and a short piece of semi-rigid flex line at the soffit, and I had not problem gently pulling the brush/rope through the pipe around each bend. Just be sure to tie the knots really good (ie. if you can't tie a knot, tie a lot!).

I thought about dropping a star after discovering my existing handle would not fit this new brush. However, after reading the product description again, it clearly states 2 different models of handles that can be ordered separately. My fault for not ordering one of them with the brush. The brush worked well for my pellet stove flue and I plan on using it soon for my clothes dryer vent.

It;s a brush! I already had rods for a six inch brush, and this wouldn't fit; it is 1/4-20 thread. So i took a 3/8 brass plug and drilled and tapped for 1/4-20 so i could use the same rods that I had for the 6 inch brush.

This Head is perfect for aluminum liners like I have for my pellet stove. Make sure you get the right size for the liner you have. Before first use the hard plastic bristles felt very sharp, so I took a 60 grid sandpaper and rotated it around a couple of times to make sure its not ripping open my liner - but that is the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5/5 - otherwise, works great with the Pellet Stove Rod kit, can go around curves of 30deg no problem and saves a bunch of money by DYI instead of chimney sweep - all in the warmth of the house vs getting on the roof.

I just needed a stove brush that could make a 45 degree angle and clean from inside. We use this on our woodstove with 6 inch pipe to clean in between our regular cleanings twice a year with the big brush. Bonus I can run it up from inside instead of going on roof and it seems to do a great job although yes I do know it is too small to get it all but saves getting on the roof more than twice in the winter so that is a good thing. We have had more issues this year since we put the two elbows in as creosote seems to collect there so this solved those issues.
