These are well made, but time will tell if the metal connectors will stay attached to the rods. I did want something thicker, but cannot locate. These are very stiff, and when screwed together are very hard to take a part, which is good, but not ideal. I added quick connect to them for better use. Since this is all I could find, and I was able to use successfully, I would recommend as there are not many choices for the homeowner to buy.

My cheapo husband kept saying, no, let's not buy poles yet not realizing stores don't carry poles year-round and so last year we ended up with a Rutland brush and no poles and when we tried to clean the stove pipe by tying a rope to it and weighing it down with rocks, he managed to get the brush stuck inside and the rope came undone at the knot. We had to take apart the entire chimney and take it outside and retrieve the brush. He was not happy and this year said he was going to do that YouTube thing with his drill and a lot of duct tape and plastic and then use the ShopVac to suck all the stuff out that had fallen into the stove. Oh, that won't fill my house with soot or anything! So I ordered the poles this year. Took a fraction of the time. We were done within 30 minutes and that's only because of how long it took him to get the cap off up on the roof.Ladies: if your husband is a lovely man who puts his foot down about things like this as if he's the boss but you know he's from an Australian sub-tropical climate and has no idea how to clean a chimney (something you did yourself as a single mom in Alaska years earlier), tell him to stuff his head in the chimney because you're buying what you need to get the thing cleaned for winter.

They screwed onto my brush, then onto each other as I pushed the brush up the chimney. There’s enough flex to do the job, though each section feels pretty rigid on its own.Added bonus: I appreciate the reusable sleeve they come in. It makes it easy to hang them up with the brush for next year.

We had an issue finding a brush that would fit the threads. We rigged something up and it works great.

I paid $130.00 to have my chimneys swept. I watched them do it and noted the tools they used. After that, I purchased a brush and these rods. These are the same rods that the chimney sweep used. The rods are of decent quality. They work just fine.

I have now used it once a year for the last three years to clean my wood stove chimney. It does take a good push and pull but I am 68 and in average shape and it was not an issue. Paid for itself the first time I used it.

Just the right size for the clearance I have with a very low flue clean out . I bought the four foot version but it was just too long so I couldn't use it, this company was good to it's word and refunded as soon as they received it back unused. I bought the brush as well, the old one I had was in good shape but didn't fit the connection. Connections on this are very solid, my old one came apart ten feet up the flue once and I don't feel there will be a similar problem with this type of connection.

I am new to the world of fire place inserts and while on the first time learning curve, found myself with a stopped up chimney top and heavy creosol build up in the liner. Local sweeps charged about $200.00 for the service. I got on YouTube and looked at a video and it really was very simple to clean a fireplace insert (providing I didn't fall off my roof in the process). I bought this product and the Rutland six-inch brush for the insert (make sure you know the size of your insert!!!). Once I cleaned out the chimney top, I used this to sweep the liner. I got half a garbage bag of creosol out of it. Afterwards, the liner and insert were back in business, which is good because we use it as the main source of heat in our home. Anyway, these rods were easy to use and durable for the task at hand. I recommend going with the Rutland brush to ensure the rods will fit and make sure you double check so you get the right sized products. Also...we are now using a powder to retard the creosol build up, and that seems to be making a difference. So, for the cost of these rods and the brush (very durable) I will save at least $200.00 a year. Not bad for DIY.
