This product is assumed to be good. The first can arrived dented so was sent a replacement can and that is also dented.Don't know but suspect that this can is heavy for its size. The "gripper" picking this product must use enough force to hold this container, however that force is too much for the container walls and causes dents in the side walls. Fine-tune the gripper force - - or find another way to "pick" this product.

I ordered at Amazon for convenience and laughed out loud when the shipment arrived, as received three small cans rather than the three larger I had expected. The error was entirely mine for not reading the description more carefully, and I should've known the price was too good for gallon cans. Although the cans were dented and had clearly taken a beating during shipping, they had not leaked. I used in a home garage fix-up project and it worked perfectly. Minimal chemical odor, dried quickly and evenly.

I was looking for something to prime my honey oak 80's cabinet in my guest bathroom. This worked great as a primer went on without streaking. Very please with my purchase.

It was just the correct amount for two sheets of plywood. Went on easily with no mess. Easy cleanup with running water on the paint brush.Top coated 24 hours later.

This product seems to have the ability to escape from captivity never to be seen again.Other Zinsser paints the same.Maybe they are colonizing some far flung Pacific Atoll ?

I used this primer on a dresser for 2 reasons: it has a glossy finish and it was part wood and part laminate/plywood. I did not want to sand laminate because it can release toxic chemicals.Method: I cleaned the entire dresser really well with a homemade vinegar and water solution. I dried it and lightly sanded the wood components. Then I applied 2-3 coats of primer to every surface. It adhered well to all of the surfaces. The laminate required 3 coats for ideal coverage and the wood parts required only 2 coats. I really like the color of the gray primer. It was just a bit lighter than the chalk paint I used (Wise Owl smoky quartz). I also like that it blocks bleed through of wood. On previous pieces that I didn't use primer, I had to use shellac to prevent the tannins from coming through the paint. Next, I added 2 coats of chalk paint. Lastly, I sealed the piece with 3 coats of Miniwax polycrylic. It looks great.Side note: although this is low VOC, it does have a smell during application (which goes aways when dry) and it still contains chemicals so make sure you have good ventilation (either go outdoors or open windows) and wear a mask.
