Works great. Retains depth, great for repetition work.

I thought I would love these but I hate them. Only usable on limited bits and can't get them tight enough to not move. If the inside part was a hard rubber and not plastic it would work better.

simple design , yet does the job perfectly

I really wanted this to work because it's so much more convenient than the drill stops that have allen screws in them. Putting them on and taking them off was relatively easy, but the largest one didn't fit the sizes that were advertised and the plastic piece inside broke. Also, unless you use super human strength to tighten them to the drill bit, they'll slip, which was fine for inaccurate deck work that I was doing, but if you're doing precision work, these aren't for you.

These have a plastic insert with the teeth (fore and aft) that clamp down on the drill when the aluminum shell is tightened. The larger one works fine, but in the smaller one the plastic teeth were closed completely would not allow the drill to be inserted. One tooth broke as soon as I tried to move them apart a bit. I need them now so won't go through the return process--I'll just make it work as it is. Cheap, but a bit disappointing.

You really can't go wrong. I've got a few depth stop systems, but most have a ring for every bit and can mess up your bit if you aren't careful where you put it. These have a nice foam insert they come in that fit perfectly in my tool chest. They're very nice quality, and you only have two instead of 10. You'll love them too, I imagine.

Works very well

These depth stops are easily the best ones I have used. The are infinitely adjustable, are well made, and do not damage the cutting edges of the bits with a set screw. Longevity is as yet unknown, but I anticipate it to be excellent.

These are very flexible stop collars and close to 5 stars but I took off because bulky size takes away from their usability, neither one would work on the 7/32" drill bit and they are not very usable for doweling jigs.Adjustable drill stops or drill bit "stop collars" are used when you need to drill holes to a specific depth and no farther. In most cases you need to buy one stop collar for a specific bit and those stop collars have set screws that tighten onto the drill bit itself (the better ones have a split in them with a set screw that tightens the collar itself so it just tightens onto the bit without the danger of a set screw damaging the bit). These Ruitool collars use a plastic sleeve that adjusts and squeezes onto the diameter of various drill bits by tightening the knurled parts.Overall, I can recommend these stop collars for most jobs but as always, there are pros and cons to to consider.Pros: • No Allen wrench to use or lose needed for adjustment, just fingers (and you probably always have some of those with you) • Small adjustments are easy and quick • Well made, machined, anodized aluminum • Will not harm your drill bits like the stop collars with hardened steel set screws • The smallest size bit the small collar could accommodate was actually 3/64 and it’s maximum usable depth setting was .35 inches (see photo) • 2 units will cover a total of 24 drill bits just keep in mind that neither one will fit the 7/32” drill bitCons: • The units are quite a bit bulkier than traditional stop collars. • The longer size means that possible depth adjustments are reduced, for the small size that can be almost an inch and the large, almost 1 3/4”. For most jobs that may not be significant but keep that in mind if you sometimes need to use a stop collar to drill for a deep recessed screw. • They are also significantly wider than traditional stop collars so this is another consideration if you are working in tight spaces. • Largest drill bit the larger unit could accommodate was 27/64”, not 7/16”. • Neither the small nor the large unit could be used for the 7/32” drill bit.Observations:The method by which they grip the various sized bits is similar to a drill chuck. The tapered ends of this sleeve close around the drill bit as the two metal pieces are tightened. The sleeve is made of engineered plastic that if not abused, should last a good long time.• Manufacturer claims you only 2 collars to cover every drill bit from 5/64” through 7/16” ⁃ The reality is that the smaller unit can go down to 3/64” but the largest drill bit that the larger unit could only accommodate 27/64, not 7/16Usable depth ranges for the smaller unit from the smallest bit I could fit to the largest:.35”-1.875” respectively.Usable depth ranges for the larger unit from the smallest bit I could fit to the largest (that I was able to fit 15/64” - 27/64”):1.45” - 2 1/2” respectively.I believe that if the sleeve of the smaller unit were trimmed slightly or is the male portion had just 1 or 2 more threads, it would also accommodate the 7/32” drill bit.Conclusion:I can recommend these stop collars for most jobs. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE FOR DOWEL JIGS (see picture 5). It is not ideal for every job but they will get you through most jobs that require specific drill depths.
