Three-way triggering is supported via two cables with advanced V-Drums modules, providing independent sounds on the edge, bow, and bell. The cymbal can also be choked simply by grabbing the edge–just like a real acoustic cymbal.

I purchased this to use as a crash cymbal to accompany a kit upgrade to a TD-27v2 with the digital ride, hats, and snare. I figured this would make a better crash than my old CY-15r ride. Thankfully, before I opened it I got a chance to play one at a local retailer and was disappointed with the feel and build quality. Compared to my CY-14c and CY-15r, while the CY-16 is thinner, it feels harsher to strike, more like a Lemon without the excessive in-room noise. It also didn’t swing as nicely like the other CY cymbals I just referenced…it was stiff. The other thing that bothered me is that it seems heavily glued down. The reason the Roland CY cymbals are so indestructible is that they’re very easy and inexpensive to repair. Spending this much on a cymbal that seems irreparable if damaged is a dealbreaker.Roland needs to do better with these new cymbals. The cheap feel and lack of repairability just saw me, a huge Roland fan, return a brand new cymbal in order to keep a repurposed one I’ve had for 8 years. The new digital ride is amazing, but this 16” crash ride is NOT the business. Avoid and buy a used 14” or 15” version instead. At least if something happens to them, you can easily fix it.

Purchased this to upgrade my CY15R on a TD-15KV kit.Pros(versus CY15r):Stick feel is improvedImproved dynamicsBell sensor has larger sweet spot versus CY15r(Huge improvement)Cons:Waited almost TWO years for this to get back in stock!For anyone worried about compatibility with older modules, this seems to work perfectly with the TD15 module - just assign the CY15r pad type. It is safe to assume any module compatible with the cy15r will work with this cymbal.Also comes with new cables(2x), felt pads, and wing nut.
