I previously had the iRobot Roomba 960, and I’m amazed at how much robot vacuums have advanced! The Roborock Q5 Max+ is a game-changer. It picks up an incredible amount of grit, dust, and dog hair in just one pass, leaving my floors noticeably cleaner. One of my favorite features is the customizable mapping within the app. I can create and name rooms, which makes cleaning specific areas a breeze. Since it's connected to Google Home, I can simply ask Google to clean the kitchen after cooking, and it will clean just that area before heading back to the dock. The zone cleaning feature is another huge plus. I use it after brushing my two dogs, as it quickly takes care of the hair in that specific area. After a week of use, I have zero complaints. If you're looking for a powerful, smart, and efficient robot vacuum, the Roborock Q5 Max+ is an excellent choice!

I couldn't go back to not owning a robo vacuum after now having my Q5 Max+ for 3 months. I have it run twice a week on my 1000ft^2 apartment, which is predominantly carpet (-kitchen and bathrooms), and it does a fantastic job. I was worried about how well it would move around and clean on medium pile carpet, but it has no challenges. It picks up a lot of hair and dust every time it runs (I stop it before it empties occasionally just to see what it picked up). It seems to collect almost as much as my regular Bissell vaccum was collecting. I never find anything it missed. It's completely saved me from needing to do weekly apartment vacuumings by hand. Now I only need to do a couple spots every now and then that it just can't reach. It takes about 55 minutes for it to clean my whole apartment. The battery has no issue with that. Even on nearly all carpet (max suction) it only uses about half the batterty. The app is great, easy to get the map configured and schedule vacuumings. It also has no issues returning to the dock even though it's against a wall in a tight little spot between furniture (it has a good 10ft clearance directly in front of it though). I did have to create "no-go" zones to ensure it didn't get stuck anywhere or fo anywhere I didn't want it to go, it took a bit of playing to get those perfect on the map, but they were easy to place and it's done a great job respecting them. I'll update if I run into any issues, but so far so good!

The first three days the Roborock performed flawlessly. I was so happy; I threw the box away. Then the trouble started. While cleaning, the Roborock started adding rooms that did not exist. No problem, put the imaginary rooms in No-Go Zones. That didn't work because the Dock was too close to one of the No-Go Zones and would not leave the Dock. I removed the offending No-Go Zone. The next day the Roborock wandered aimlessly, turn in circles, cleaned small areas over and over again and went into other rooms. The Roborock did not know where the Dock was. It would collide with the Dock because there was an imaginary room on the other side of the wall. It wanted to go through that wall. It would not go to the Dock through the app either. No problem, restore a previous map. The next day the Roborock did not operate. I didn't realize that you had to reenter all routines when you restore a previous map. I finally figured this out after a couple of days.I reentered the routines. The Roborock worked perfectly for the first room but added another imaginary room. When the Roborock entered the second room, it went rouge again. It wandered aimlessly, turn in circles, cleaned small areas over and over again, went into other rooms, could not find the Dock and collided into the Dock. The space that I am attempting to clean is a large open room that I divided into smaller rooms for cleaning. I clean half of the room in the morning and the other half in the afternoon. There are also windows and doors in this room but no mirrors. The bottom of the lowest window is two feet above the floor. It appears to me that the Lidar is beaming up too much, finding the glass and creating imaginary rooms. The Lidar needs to operate at floor level only.I don't want to have to remap or restore an earlier version of the map every time that the Roborock cleans. I don't want to reenter my routines every time I remap or restore, which may need to be done every day. The Lidar works great locating objects at floor level instead of banging into the objects like a Roomba does. If you have windows or doors in your house, I would advise against buying a Roborock. I wish that I had purchased another Roomba.Update: Imaginary rooms problem solvedImaginary rooms are created when the Lidar beams through glass. I took a Xmas card and taped it to the top of the Roborock (see attached picture). I had hoped that the card would block the Lidar from beaming through the glass. It's been almost three weeks and the Roborock has not created any imaginary rooms. It is now operating as it should, so I'm changing my rating to four stars.

This is our first robotic vacuum purchase. I was hesitant until I read all the great reviews and decided to take a chance. Set up was super easy, mapping couldn't have been better, and it works phenomenally well. We have carpet and tile. It is a bit louder on the hard tile surface, but SO much quieter than my upright.I recommend checking the onboard waste bin after it docks and empties it. The unit picked up so much pet hair ours was packed inside. I removed it, and check it routinely, just to ensure it isn't getting clogged up.The vacuum does a fantastic job maneuvering around furniture, just make sure all electric cords are secured out of the way. We close off areas we don't want the unit to go into (there is probably an easy way to mark those automatically). We have ours scheduled on certain days at a specific time. It announces that it's starting, when it's emptying the dust bin, and charging. The remote control app is easily navigable. I like that it is intelligent and changes patterns each run so it isn't wearing a pattern into the carpet. We have had no issues with our vacuum. It is worth the investment.

My main floor is a hydronic concrete slab, the 2nd floor is a matte hardwood, and my toddler's playroom is carpeted with coral fleece. The Q5+ does a stellar job on each of them. It detects its surroundings and loads the proper map and settings for each floor. We have a big fluffy dog that would leave lots of hair and dirt all over the place and we can really see a huge difference since getting the Roborock. What's important to understand with these vacuums is that they're meant to run almost every day to *keep* your floors clean; you shouldn't let dust and debris accumulate too much between cleanings. They also require frequent maintenance if you want to make them last. This is true for all robot vacuums. Some insight if you do choose the Roborock Q5+:-You can replace the main brush with the newer design rubber roller from the S7 models. It deals better with hair, but is somewhat less durable than the brush roller and also less efficient on carpet (many S7 owners on Reddit swap in a Q5 brush and say it works better than the rubber one on carpet).-If you stick with the original Q5 brush make sure you clean it often, as hair will inevitably get entangled around it. Also check the side brush regularly for entangled hair around the screw and seal.-The auto-emptying can be tricky as it requires a perfect seal in order to vacuum properly into the dock's bin. Make sure the 4 plastic tabs of the brush cover are well tucked in the housing of the roller. The tabs should not be visible when seated correctly (see photo). If your dust box is not emptying this is most probably the fix for that.-Verify the robot's dust box often for clogs, and keep that filter clean as they are expensive to replace. You should also clean your sensors with a microfiber cloth every once in a while. There is a timer in the app to remind you (it doesn't actually detect anything; just a timer you have to reset manually).-For Android users: To connect properly to your WiFi you should turn off mobile data and any adblocker app, and also disable auto-connect to both 2.4 and 5 ghz wifi networks until the robot is paired.
