Mount Compass
The most important criteria when selecting a compass are dial size and mounting style. Quality components aid accuracy, smooth response, stability, and trouble-free operation. Gimbal Systems
All Ritchie Compasses are engineered to operate normally within their environment without bottoming out due to the pitch and roll or heel of the boat. An internal gimbaling system is most often applied to provide this important function.
100% Repairable
Never be afraid of a broken compass. All Ritchie compasses are 100% repairable and are backed by Ritchie’s 5 year assurance.
Directive Force Magnets
Ritchie uses special High Gauss Magnets that are field balanced and matched to each compass model, dial style and size. They are attached to the underside of the dial in pairs matched to seek and lock on to magnetic north. This provides superior accuracy and smooth, rapid response.
Pivot and Jewel Movement
All Ritchie Compasses use a Hardened Steel Pivot and Triple Cup Sapphire Jewel Movement. They are microscopically matched to provide smooth dial operation and fast lock-on, under the most severe conditions. There are no plastic pivots or jewels in Ritchie Compasses.

I really like this compass, however, I purchased it for a motorcycle, and it's too big. I used to be a mariner, this is a nice compass for a boat, or other, if you have the room? It's accurate, easy to read, it has a built-in light, mounting is straight forward and simple. If I still owned a boat, I would keep this compass. I will say, if they ever make a mini, of this exact compass, (motorcycle friendly) it would be a good seller, as the others I've tried, have issues, and aren't accurate. This compass proved to work great, and is really accurate on a motorcycle, however, it's just too big. I'm sure this will work awesome for a boat, or other, however, just make sure you have enough room, as it's larger than it looks in the photo.

Great value for the money. Had my first unit for almost thirty years before buying its replacement ... works well ... only disappoint was that the mounting yoke is now plastic ... the original one was metal ... other than that ... nice unit for the money! I trust it to work properly!

I put one on my 18’ Ranger 180F Pontoon boat, was concerned about room on the dash and it looking good.... and not only does it fit, but it looks great. No boat of mine will ever not have a compass. The Ritchie brand is well known and I’ve seen them all over the water now and growing up.... No magnetic calibration was needed at all in my circumstance.

I purchased this for my new lake pontoon boat....it only had a tiny 8-point digital compass.I mounted it into a cup holder. Works perfectly....my 4th Ritchie compass... (the best?)-RadioRichNH

This mid-size compass was consistent with the description provided on the website; finish was excellent; A perfect compassfor a small boat as a replacement or initial installation. Provides stable readings in rough water and has shown consistent performance accuracy. Excellent response in delivery and I will buy from this supplier again and would recommend the supplier to family and friends who want an affordable product that will meet their need.

Very Easy to install. The price is great, the best I could find. Very easy to read. Accurate.Seems to hold up well against the toughest of weather, including 100 degree heat and sun in Canada, still worked after getting wet in rain and from waves. Had a similar model previously to buying this one that was on the boat when we purchased it used over 10 years ago, that finally wore out leading us to buy this new one.
