We have purchased five flood and freeze sensors and one out of five sensors has been draining the battery within 2-3 weeks. Just within a few months we have placed more than 4 batteries in it. The other 4 out of 5 sensors have not been having such issue. We contacted Ring support and followed recommendation to reset and all. Battery draining/dying problem still persists. After contacting Ring again and again, it isn't getting resolved. We are not wasting any more batteries on the problem unit.Update 2024-11-05We were reached out by Ring Customer Support (Matthew) shortly after posting our feedback. Received a new unit and installed on October 10. It's been almost a month and no battery drainage issues so far. The defective unit was replaced.

Added this to our system of Ring ecosystem, just as nobody really inspects that furnace room as much as we should - so having this peace of mind addon was a no brainer as pricing wasn't too farfetched. This flood/freeze Ring Alarm Sensor, is very easy to add to your Ring Security System via the app. I simply placed it on the floor of my utility devices in the furnace room. So if a leak develops, or the heat fails long enough to cause freezing, I'll get an alert on my phone. Not 100% if it's effective, but I also don't want to find out either.... BUT consider this cheap insurance against massive water damage at a fraction of the costs that it may induce. Setup was ease.

This device has saved me over hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars! I placed this near the overflow valve on my water heater to detect any possible leaks down the road. Well not even a year later the sensor went off and sure enough the water heater had started leaking and failing. Had it not been for this device, it may have been hours before we noticed the leak was occurring given the location of our water heater! Instead this device notified us within minutes of the leak occurring so we could take measures to shut off the water supply to the water heater before it flooded our home.If you have any possible area in your home where water leaks could occur, I highly recommend you get this device. You honestly owe it to yourself to buy this! Literally saved us so much money and headaches! It connects easily to an existing Ring security system, it’s very small in size and appearance allowing it to be tucked away unobtrusively anywhere in the home. The coverage and range is excellent for the location we had installed this device. The speed of alerts is near instantaneous once water is picked up by the sensor. Overall the performance is excellent, and this was amazing value for the price we paid!

I recently installed the Ring Flood Alarm Sensor in my home and I couldn't be happier with the results. The installation process was incredibly easy and straightforward, taking me just a few minutes to have it up and running. All I had to do was place the sensor in the desired location, connect it to my Ring Alarm system, and I was good to go.The sensor provides me with a sense of peace of mind knowing that my home is protected from potential flooding. The moment water is detected, I receive an immediate alert on my phone, allowing me to take action quickly and prevent any further damage. This has been incredibly helpful during heavy rainstorms or when I'm away from home for an extended period of time.I also appreciate the reliability of the Ring Flood Alarm Sensor. It has never failed to detect water when present, and the battery life has been exceptional. The sensor is also durable and well-made, so I have confidence that it will continue to work efficiently for years to come.

Thanks goodness I've never had my flood sensor go off, but given the quality of the other Ring security components, I'm certain that it will if I have a water problem. I've placed mine on the floor between my hot water heater and my well pump.Installation was a bit more complicated than other Ring sensors, although still not difficult. You go through the normal "add device" procedure but then must remove the door to the sensor. Once you do that, a light inside will start blinking red. As soon as it stops blinking red, you have to quickly tap the set up button for it to connect. We weren't expecting that extra step and missed our window. We had to do it a second time for it to properly connect. Pretty easy, but more steps than usual.Because a flood/freeze sensor may be distant from the base station, you may have to purchase an extender.-- Debbie Lee Wesselmann

I tested it and it works- installed in my furnace room so if my boiler springs a leak I'll know before it destroys my basement. It's simple, no frills, installs easily and then you just place it and forget it. I think the only thing I'd prefer is if it adhered to the floor so if it gets bumped it won't shoot across the room like a hockey puck. One can add double sided tape to keep it in place. The first time someone swept the floor down there, it was bumped and sent under the boiler where it melted. Oops!***UPDATED 9/16/20: We broke one of these, my fault, and I replaced it. This little device saved me GOBS of money when it detected a broken water heater. My wife got the alert on her phone and I told her it had to be a false alarm, as I looked in the furnace room and there was no water. I was wrong... I picked the sensor up and it was wet- there WAS water, but not from the boiler. The water came under the wall from the water heater in the next room! Immediately, we went into damage control and shut off water, hooked a hose to the damaged tank, and threw everything we had at containing the water. Another hour and over $50K in stereo speakers and electronics would have been sitting in the water and all the carpet ruined. We ordered more of these and today I'm ordering another one to "hack" into a communications trigger for my boiler- you can hack this device to trigger with a relay so with a little modification I'll get a notice on my phone if my EnviraCom enabled boiler controller sense a problem and shuts the heat down.
