I love a traditional view finder but this one is too temperamental and difficult to use. It adds very little functionality for the price. The framing of my photo is off when using the view finder. The image captured on the camera is actually more wide angled than what the view finder shows and slightly off center.I pretty much have to shoot on full or continuous auto focus instead of spot or select AF when using this. Otherwise, I have no idea if the camera is properly focused on my subject and the photo I get often comes out blurry. For landscapes I guess it doesn’t matter but this is a 40mm view finder, not the 28mm wide angled one so it’s not a proper focal lens for landscapes. It is just a very nice piece of glass that does not show any feedback from the actual camera. My subjects look amazing in the view finder but then I check my photo and the composition, focus, and color temperature looks nothing like what I see in the view finder. It also adds bulk to an otherwise compact and stealthy camera. The direct sunlight use case is so uncommon for me. If you’re in doubt just do exposure bracketing or use exposure compensation. Also turn up the screen brightness.I would get a cheaper 3rd party view finder if you want one. This one is too expensive for very limited functionality. I bought mine from B&H and it’s going back.

Non c’è paragone con oggetti simili a costi notevolmente più bassi.Ottima fattura, ottime lenti.Molto funzionale (quasi indispensabile) quando si usa la fotocamera con molta luce a causa della quale il monitor non si vede.

Think of the GR3x as $1299 camera with a optical viewfinder, not as a $240 add on. Photographers will buy a $1000 camera body knowing that they will need to buy at least a $300-400 lens to shoot photos. Basically the same cost as a complete GR3x but instead of having to buy a lens it’s a optical viewfinder. The Ricoh GR models don’t include a flip back, weather sealing, or electronic viewfinder. I know we dream of having them, but it is what it is. No need to factor that against it’s strengths. Big bulky cameras are always available with all those features except they won’t fit in your pocket.I purchased the GV3 viewfinder because:1) I can frame up a scene without turning the camera on.2) It’s easier to compose in bright sunlight.3) Holding the camera to the eye, especially in low light, allows for steadier shots.

The Ricoh GR IIIX is an excellent camera for street photography except in direct sunlight where you cannot see the back screen because it does not articulate. This viewfinder is the solution. While it is challenging for those who wear glasses like myself, it provides enough orientation to allow pictures when you cannot see the back screen. It's well made and would have been better if the was EVF and a bit bigger. I use it like a gun sight, leaving a bit of room for framing error. It works this way for me. It is the most overpriced piece of camera gear I have purchased.

I was on the fence when buying this wondering if I needed it and what it would actually do. It does not provide an accurate framing for your shot just a rough estimate. The closer you get to your subject, the more off it will be. It is not illuminated, I thought that it might be for the price but it is not. It does not show what is in focus and what is out of focus. I guess it is just an overpriced rough guide to where you are pointing the camera at? It also protrudes from the top of the camera in a way that makes this cool little camera less compact now. The whole point I guess to having a GRiiix is the small size and this ruins some of that. I can't recommend this add-on and I think maybe if it was $50 or less I might keep it, but even then I would probably not use it very much given the lack of accuracy.

Tiny optic that some will find useful. Set up the GR3x to point and shoot and use this optic instead of the screen. It is unobtrusive and very effective. It is, however, the most overpriced accessory in this galaxy. I would buy it again for the function that it enhances. It merits 5 stars except for the price.

I don't actually use this on a Ricoh GRIII or any other GR model. I use it on my Leica M's , and the Leica III and its clones. The optical quality is on par with Voigtlander viewfinders and so is the price. You get what you pay for, I guess. The view is impressive, bright, and extremely useful.
