The matts I got were sticky. They collect the sand that sticks to my shoes when I walk into my house from my yard. The only down side is I can't find a way to get it to stick to the floor so you can walk seamlessly. I often have to peel the sticker pad off my shoes it seams.

I have used industrial versions of these before and when you step off of them, your shoe soles are free of any loose debris. This one ain't like that. It takes some dirt off but not all.
