This item was given as a gift for a friend who lives in less than 400 sq ft. She loves to do Arts & Crafts, but space and storage are always an issue. This Flower Press was just right, size wise, as it is about one foot square. She loves it! The beautiful artwork on the top piece of wood adds to the overall beauty of this flower press. The height of the press is only a couple of inches, so it easily fits on a shelf. It comes with flat pieces of cardboard as spacers, as well as many pieces of blotter paper to draw the moisture out of the flowers as they dry. All the nuts, bolts and washers come with the press.

I have the Max Microfleur (8.75x8.75), Berstuk large (11x15), and Rhykoka (11x11) flower presses. This is a side by side comparison. Second paragraph below is a review of the Rhykoka press. My favorite is the Microfleur for a small quantities of vibrant, very dry flowers in a short period of time. Two perforated microwave safe plastic plates, four plastic clips, two cotton batts and two cotton (muslin) blotters. The downside is that it is not a passive press, it requires a microwave. Most flowers are finished in two 30 second bursts in our 1200w microwave. Also, it is small and needs to cool down and dry out after two, maybe three uses so volume of plant material processed is limited in each session. When compared to a month(s) long passive press, it does balance out. Depending on what is drying, it can also make the microwave/kitchen stinky. The batting and blotting fabric can be washed between uses, or replaced if needed. You can even purchase a half yard of muslin at a local fabric store and cut into more blotter pieces. Includes a plastic tweezer and paper instructions (at least it did when I purchased it a four years ago direct from the company.)The Rhykoka is larger than the Microfleur. Easy to manage with only two hands. Comes with a couple of tools, though better quality can be purchased elsewhere; and a handy carrying/harvesting bag. Includes ten pieces of cardboard and a few extra blotting papers. Bolts & nuts are good quality. Wood is 3/8” lightweight (balsa?) plywood that so far is holding up and gets the job done. Includes a paper sheet of instructions. The Berstuk is a large press. It comes with eight (8) pieces of precut cardboard, with two additional pieces you cut from the top and bottom of its box. I had to purchase additional blotting paper as there was not enough included. No tools, or carrying bag included, instructions can be obtained by scanning a QR code on the box. The wood is a gorgeous maple or birch plywood just shy of 5//8”. Bolts are a cheap brass (?) with wingnuts made of some kind of brass slag metal. Holes in the nuts are bored off center though they do work properly. The size of the press and drilled holes (6) also makes it very awkward and hard to remove/replace top piece without help. Problem solved by drilling the holes out two sizes larger. I’ll also be replacing the bolts and nuts soon because I don’t like the quality. During my first use, which included the cut out box sections, everything molded. I had to replace all the cardboard and purchase more blotter paper. There was probably excessive moisture on the flowers, but it could also have been complicated by the coating on the box sections preventing complete evaporation under pressure. I would recommend not using the box cut outs for extra cardboard and store the press in it instead. It is a pretty box.

PROS - This was super easy to use and very sturdy. It has a very tight and flat surface, once the bolts are in place. Great price.CONS - The corrugated cardboard left bruise lines on many of my flowers and leaves, I had to toss them. The second time I used the press I didn't use the cardboard. This worked much better. It would have been better to include a thicker poster board that is completely flat. DON'T USE THE CARDBOARD!The wing nuts aren't super smooth when tightening, so I had to use an adjustable wrench to hold the bolt and some pliers to tighten them down.

Great quality, really happy with the presses I’ve gotten from this! It’s big enough to press long pieces of fern, which is what I really picked it for, but even the tiny flowers I’ve added have come out perfectly. I’ve just used the paper and cardboard it comes with, and haven’t had any problems with the cardboard texture imprinting on the plants, even with fairly thick buds. It also comes with tiny rounded scissors that are great for clipping plants without risk of scratching the stalk. Recommend!
