Instructios said to preheat for 30 minuets, I did so. I have an electric stove. First time using it on the electric stove. As it was warming up, it cracked in half. It's flat on one side and griddled on the other side. So overall it's not as thick as a normal cast iron pan. Probably why it ended up cracking.

Really nice piece of cast iron. The only problem I have is the lip around the griddle. Both sides of the piece have an approximate 1/2-inch lip that is of course for keeping the cooking oils and grease in place. But, if it is used on a gas stove there are issues with the griddle sitting level. It the grills on the stove aren't designed to extend past the burner enough then the griddle doesn't have anything to rest on unless it isn't centered over the burner. This griddle is designed for a flat top stove or a large commercial cook top.

I like the fact that this 12" griddle perfectly fits the largest element on my radiant stovetop. The lip is adequate height. The handles are a bit small for handling, but small enough to not get in the way.Griddle came extremely rough, even by budget cast iron standards. Sanding the high spots was easy enough, but there are several significant pits that will likely always be a small issue. The griddle surface is also far from flat, with a more than 1/16" drop from the center to the edge. This does make oil run to the edges more than I'd like.Overall, acceptable for the price.

This griddle arrives very rough from the casting process. Even rougher than a Lodge. If you’re willing to go through the effort to sand it down smooth and re season than it can be a very nice griddle.

Nice transaction. The cast iron griddle/griller has that cast iron heft that feels like quality. I’m looking forward to using it with my hibachi grill.

The pan appeared to be of excellent quality. I did return it, though, because the care instructions called a lot of work to season the pan plus a lot of extra work oiling it after cleaning. It was a lot more effort than I am used to with stainless steel pans. If you're into cast iron I'm sure you will like it.

Love my new pan. I’ve always use the 10 inch griddle pan made by Lodge for eggs and pancakes for my family. But now that I have four children to feed I’m finding I need to upgrade to something bigger. I tried purchasing one of the big rectangular griddle‘s that go over two burners on the stove, but I never could seem to get it to heat evenly. This pan has been perfect. I can cook up to six fried eggs at once! It heats much more evenly than the large double burner pan. Some people complain about it having a rough surface. This may be somewhat true, but once it’s seasoned it doesn’t make a difference. All pans made in more recent years seem to have this rough texture. Only pans handed down for generations have that glossy smooth texture. If you could ever get a hold of one of those, hang onto it!

I love this thing. Yes you can grill on it, yeas you can use it as a skillet, but even better is its use as a bread stone/pizza stone. The small rim/lip keeps you pizzas or bread from running away as you slid you paddle under it. I have made some really good pizzas on this thing. As it is metal it is heavy but so is a bread stone. This will not break if you drop it (this is applicable for me). It will not stain (my last 2 pizza stones did). If it rusts scrub it and re-oil. It will fit in a medium/large toaster oven (measure before you order this).I have a butane in catering stove as well as an induction stove. It got to hot for the induction and tripped the heat safty but no problems with the butane stove. I have made really good tortillas on the cast iron.Over all this was a really good purchase.
