I am so pleased with this tool and enjoy using it to clean off the natural edges of my live edge wood projects and to redress old, weather boards and slabs. The most impressive feature I’ve found is the dust collection. It’s so well designed and effective that there is little cleanup required after using it. The Restorer is light enough is use that it doesn’t tire you out or fight you to keep it steady. The assortment of drums you can get will allow me to take it beyond my woodworking and into restoring old rusty tools or parts. I also ordered a wire brush drum for that purpose, but I haven’t used it yet. The drums are easy to change and no tools are needed to do it. I enthusiastically recommended to anyone who works with old wood restoration, or natural live edge cleanup tasks.

After being a professional wood worker for over 50 years, I tend to be quite sceptical about new products. This one does all it promises and more. Very easy to use, and looks quite durable. Definitely worth the price of admission.

I ordered this primarily for cleaning dirt off of reclaimed barn wood. I also ordered the Restorer 180 Grit Nylon Brush to use on the boards. These items came in quickly and worked extremely well. They paired together great. The sander is aggressive and definitely needed 2 hands to control the tool from bouncing. I can't argue with the outcome. It cleaned up the board without removing the patina too much. If you want to take off more of the surface go with an 60 or 80 grit brush. I had a question about getting additional sanding drums and called the company. I reached the owner and he was gracious and very helpful. I would highly recommend this product. This is the same product as the Porter Cable and Black and Decker models.

Didn't know what to expect but when it arrived, I put it to immediate use refinishing stainless steel and it did great. Since then I have found at least a dozen more uses for this tool. Wood, metal and even bricks. Great hard working tool and heavy duty too. Very pleased.

Contractor since 1985; retiring progressively as I finish renovating our own house. I'm into the Bosch, Dewalt, Makita for my main arsenal, and Wen, Craftsman, Ridgid for the less demanding tasks. My specialty is the use of reclaimed wood in my work. For years I have been struggling to 'dig' through layers in order to reveal hidden wood; I was placing my belt sanders in an angle so that their front wheel would aggressively bite the material, but then too often creating wide grooves in the wood, etc...This 'restorer' is a savior! It surely comes out of the mind of some woodworker who went through the same process I described.PROS:ManeuverabilityPowerErgonomyEase of grit tube changeRange of Grits availabilityPriceDurabilityCONS:NONE so farTIP:This machine pulls off a lot of material fast, and if it is paint, the sanding tubes will become slick quickly; don't throw them away; spin them against a metal brush to get the larger part off the grit, and use the grit cleaning rubber bars; you'll increase 10 times the life of your sanding tubes (and belts on other sanders)Absolutely no regrets.Hi highly recommend this Restorer.

I received my restorer today, and within 15 minutes of unboxing it, I was using it. Im impressed, this thing does a great job. Im stripping the paint off a truck fender and this is by far the quickest way to do it. No mess to clean up like you get with chemical strippers, and way faster than any other type of sander I have tried. And when your done, the metal is in perfect condition for primer. Well worth the money.

I purchased one of these to clean some old oak barn wood and to accentuate the grain in some old heart pine. My wife wanted a table for our newly roofed back deck. She wanted it to look like it was old and weathered. I was fortunate enough to have a friend give me several large heart pine timbers which I cut down to make the table. By using the Restorer and a Craftsman Steel Brush to go over the wood after being sized for my project, I was able to accentuate the grain to make it look weathered and aged, just like she wanted.I used it as well on some old barn wood that needed cleaning. It was so nice to clean the wood and not loose any of the texturing and ageing that it showed, just cleaned the wood and into the grain structure and a quick sanding eliminate any chance of splintering so that I could make a bench with it to go with the heart pine table. If you get the Restorer, it come with s couple of sanding discs, but adding the steel brush, either the one sold by Restorer or Craftsman adds to the flexibility of this tool. Both steel brushes are sold by Amazon.
