I always take a while to review these because I want to make sure they work and are safe. This is a decent little unit for the price. I use thermostats on Ceramics heat emitters and I really prefer them to in/off thermostats for their superior consistency in heat. This is a simple unit at a reasonable price that gets it done. I prefer thiner probe ends for ease of insertion through enclosure ports but the unit works. Maintains temps, reasonably east to program, and the thermostat itself doesn’t get hot. Some inexpensive units overheat and can run a fire risk but this one seems to stay reasonably cool.

Dimming thermostat works. Fahrenheit setting does not. You can set a temperature in Fahrenheit but then it will not display the current tank temperature, it just displays a zero. So I have to set it in Fahrenheit, then switch it to Celsius so that it displays the current temperature, just in Celsius.

I like the digital display is clear and easy to read, which is particularly helpful during the early morning or late evening when ambient light is low and the setup process is straightforward, with clear instructions that make it easy for any user to get started. The thermostat has an impressive 300W capacity, making it suitable for a variety of heat lamps and setups. The dimming feature is very nice feature as it allows me to control the temperature accurately without the drastic fluctuations that can stress reptiles. Instead of simply turning the heat source on and off, the system gradually adjusts the output, extending the life of my heat bulbs and optimizing energy efficiency. The temperature regulation is precise and reliable which is huge deal when using these. I highly recommend this thermostat to anyone looking to provide the best possible environment for their reptiles. It really does make a difference!

When we first started using this thermostat for our baby chicks it seemed like it was working. It was stuck on Celsius but other than that I thought it was good. The next day I looked closer at how to change the display from Celsius to Fahrenheit. When we would switch to F all we would get were 0s for the temp display. After switching back and forth a few times between F and C I just gave up and stuck with C. This would have been ok I guess if it were the only issue we experienced. However over the next few days the temperature started getting more and more off till we just stopped using it out of fear of getting our babies too hot. It seemed to display the correct temperature but wouldn’t shut off the heat light right away once it got to the set temp. When we stopped using it the temperature was getting a full 5 degrees hotter than it was set. I would not recommend this product.

I use a ceramic heat emitter to provide consistent heat for my Pacman frog's habitat along with a smart plug to manage its day/night off/on cycles, but it's always been an 'all-or-nothing' arrangement. The addition of this dimmer regulator means it stays in a much more consistent temperature range throughout the day and uses less electricity as well in the process. The switch is easy to set up and configure, and I like that it has a separate long cord with a suction cup for the temperature probe as it allows you to place it with precision under the heat source for an accurate reading. The plug isn't grounded and can only take two-prong devices, but it can be paired with mechanical or smart timers as it remembers its settings when it's turned on/off. This is a huge deal as it means you can automate the day/night cycle and the heat regulation that goes with that, depending on your needs. The only hiccup I encountered was in changing the degree readings from C (default) to F. When it was in C, the current temperature reading would return an accurate 2-digit temperature. When it was in F, the reading wouldn't change/update and just read 00. Even though I was able to adjust the target range in F with no problem, for it to maintain it accurately, I had to switch it back to C. That's not a huge deal as it functions just fine, and you can look up F/C conversions online if you need it, but it was an annoyance to contend with on the initial setup. I do like how it manages things in relation to the targeted temperature setting, much in the same way as a furnace thermostat does. To avoid it constantly switching itself on/off, it will heat things higher by a few degrees and then allow it to cool down before coming back on and heating again. That's important to keep in mind when setting that target, as you want it to be mid-range for your desired habitat environment. In the few days that I've had it running, it's provided a consistent result that's proven by the fact that all of the crickets that haven't been eaten yet have taken to congregating in the cone of heat that it puts out. My thermometer and hygrometer are also showing consistent readings throughout the day, making this one an overall winner in the habitat management aspect.
