Picked this item up for an upcoming repair job of a generation 5.5 80GB phat ipod. Looks to be a drop-in replacement of the original front faceplate, made of thick clear plastic which should stand the test of time better than the original. With the internals visible after installation, it will definitely make this ipod rock with style. Arrives with a protective cellophane layering on both sides to protect it from scratches during shipment, and from dust during its application. Waiting for the last piece, a SD card adapter, to start the install and will update the review with a final image once it all comes together.

I recently started collecting iPod classics again which led me to this clear case for the iPod 5th Gen. My all time favorite was the 3rd Gen (Firewire) and I hate when I traded it in back in 2006 for one of the newer USB models so flash forward to 2024 and I broke down and picked one up to refurbish myself. This led me to start collecting all the different generation iPods and I recently started on my 5.5 Gen by replacing the hard-drive for an SD board, and also replaced the screen and battery . Now I have replaced the front case to add that final touch to it, by using this clear case. It fit perfectly and was such a simple upgrade but really adds to the style of this iPod. Thanks for making a quality product at a competitive price. Highly recommend!

My son found my old iPod. He was so excited to install a new battery and case so that he could use and enjoy it. It was easy for him to install and he loves the look of it. It fits perfectly in place of the old case. I'm grateful that such an inexpensive upgrade can bring new life to an old pice of technology.

This faceplate works great and ships fast, which is important when you're harvesting parts during an ipod restore. I installed it on my ipod 5.5 video, the clear faceplate allows for clickwheels to really "pop" as far as looks are concerned. Protective cellophane on both sides of the screen prevent dust and other debris from getting stuck between your lcd and faceplate for all time - which let me say this attention to detail was not taken for granted.

This is a neat looking replacement and was useful for an iPod I've been fixing up. Plastic quality seems nice and there are protectors on both sides of the screen to help minimize any dust that may get trapped. The inner liner was a bit difficult to remove, since the black foam is a solid panel with the center portion pre-cut. You actually have to peel it out, and it's difficult to remove that without the border attached to the case coming off as well. But a few plastic case tools helped me with that. It feels like this faceplate may be slightly thicker than the original ones, and there may be slightly more room for the scroll wheel. So it feels like there's a little bit of looseness to the scroll wheel but it's not to the point where I would be concerned about it feeling fragile.Also It's worth pointing out that if you're using a Classic Connect kit you'll want to remove the tab at the very top of the case. I forgot this until I had already attached the faceplate to the frame, so removing the tab was a bit of a pain. But that shouldn't be an issue for anyone using the standard iPod back.

This replacement faceplate fits perfectly on my iPod Classic 5th Generation and was easy to install. I love the clear cover, which gives my iPod a fresh, modern look while showing off its original design. It's a great way to revive an old device!

Obtained a totally trashed iPod Classic 5.5 on eBay. Dead battery, cracked LCD screen, road rash all over and audio jack that didn’t work. this looks so much nicer. Really makes an interesting discussion piece for people who come over and see it attached to my sound system. It’s a nice piece of nostalgia with a great function. It’s fun to be able to see the logic board.

This replacement faceplate for a iPod 5th generation is of good quality. I upgraded my old 5th generation with a fast SSD drive and a new battery - but the faceplate needs to be replaced. This clear faceplate will look great. I've ordered a new screen too so I'll install both at the same time. This is very good quality - so glad there are parts to keep my beloved iPod going! .
