So my shower handle didn't have any marking of what brand it is. It could've had one and the plate and handle could've been replaced before I moved in but who knows. The previous owner did do some renovations and did cut shortcuts or just didn't know. Anyways the old handle started to wear down and would not stop where it should all the time so the hot would be cold and then maybe the next go around would be good. This is due to the type of stem. Either way after installing this I had to make sure that I lined up the stem to make sure the handle would line up with hot and cold. I had it backwards at first. The easiest was to install the plastic piece test out the hot and cold and make sure it checks out. If not unscrew the middle screw and reposition the plastic piece until the hot is hot and the cold is cold and put on the handle. Now it came with two adapters so I recommend replacing it with the same adapter of the old one. Plus one had a plastic lock on, white piece, that you might or might not need. I just wish the adapters were made of metal and not plastic as in time maybe two, three, five and heck if your lucky ten years down the road this adapter will need to be replaced pending on the usage. Other than that everything works, fits and I had not trouble with the parts. The handle itself feels nice and heavy. It doesn't feel cheaply made. The Allen wrench that came with it fits and is nice and long so it wasn't an issue on screwing the handle to the adapters. I turned my adapter all the way up to make it easier and that I wasn't fighting gravity. The whole process took ten minutes that's including me taking the face cover off to make sure I had no issues I couldn't see, reinstall that, install the handle and caulk around the face plate.

I bought the replacement and it came quickly but I'm missing both screws and the Allen wrench.

So, I'm pretty much a newbie when it comes to plumbing. When the handle on my shower broke last week I damn near had a panic attack because I had no idea what to do. (Turns out, as long as the cartridge isn't busted a pair of pliers does the trick in a pinch.) THIS replacement handle came today and has the adapter for both the positemp and non-positemp, which is nice. I had the positemp and, I'll be honest, there's no instructions so at first, I felt that anxiety creeping back in. Then... I just realized that you slap the adapter on (It pretty much only goes one way) pop in the screw and then attach the sweet new handle. A shower never felt so good!

These are a Great Price, Great Quality and very easy to install. Changed out my old Moen Clear Round Plastic handles and waht a differance. Can adjust the water temperature so easily with a lever verses a round knob. You won't regret installing these in about 5 minutes. All you need is a philips screw driver, it comes with the required allen wrench and thats it.

The plastic quality is terrible and broke after regular use in 2 months. I highly recommend buying a metal replacement of the internal parts and saving the headache.

I will change this review if this doesn't hold up, but here are a couple of things. When I first read all the reviews I was hesitant to buy this item, but there really isn't any other choice on Amazon that I could find. Speaking purely from the posi-temp type valve 1222 (not the moentrol 1225) it fits nice and tight and works as expected. At this point I can't see why the plastic mounting base would break unless you were using the the valve handle to get up out of the tub, or intentionally were trying to damage it. Also, on a side note, if you are needing this handle you likely had to destroy the old on to get it off (like I did). Go ahead and spring for the 1222HD valve. You will not regret it. All metal construction, and arguable what Moen should have had in there in the first place.
