It was difficult to determine color from the online photos. When the order arrived the color didn't look like the photo, so I decided to exchange it for a different color. I was taken aback to learn that the manufacturer refuses to cover return shipping costs, even if I was placing a new order. While the company declared this was allowed under Amazon's third-party policy, it nevertheless cost me $27.50 to return, plus the nuisance of going to UPS headquarters to return under the same shipper, as manufacturer requested. UPS also wouldn't accept manufacturer's pre-printed label, and so I had to go through the time to create another. So, warning: don't consider buying from this manufacturer if you might need to return or exchange. It will cost you.

The clamps that hold the rods in place are rather shoddy and not very tight. The rods themselves are made of very thin wall material. I would have expected at least 40 mils. This is closer to 10 mils or even less. I had expected better.

We pulled up the carpet from our home and replaced it with a "hardwood" tile throughout. Including the stairs. Almost immediately we regretting not having padded carpet on the stairs. It's just not comfy to walk on. Not to mention how unforgiving tile is to fall on (God forbid!).I decided to add a carpet runner with padding to soften the look as well as the steps. My research showed the stair rods help to keep the runner in place. I looked at Lowes and Home Depot but the selection was very limited and they didn't have the wider length I needed. I found these on Amazon. They were more expensive, but they were exactly what I needed. When I received them I realized they are much higher quality than the ones I found at Lowes and Home Depot. That made me feel even better about paying the higher price. They look wonderful. After a few years, I'm sure I'll have to replace the runner with a new one. That's the beauty of a stair runner vs wall-to-wall carpet. It's inexpensive to replace. My days of trying to clean carpeted stairs are over! The stair rods are easily removed to take away the old runner and easily reinserted once the new one is in place.

The description clearly states that there are 13 sets of rods/hardware, but only one was included (in both original order and replacement order). So $299 is a little pricey for one rod.
